So no need up uprate any of the wishbone bushes? Just the roll bar bushes. I dont want loud crashy ride.

I was always under the impression that a decent shock & spring setup (especially for the price) was better than a coilover setup for road use.

What coilovers would you advise then? I'm trying to get pricing's in my head.

James, have a look here. http://www.evoowners.co.uk/f4/my-car-7440.html#axzz1tAYfHHIr
It's my car, there is the "spec" list there. It made 393 with that except it was on the the standard downpipe and with the cat in place, so it goes to show that it is very easy to achieve. The suspension wasn't the cheapest but it is very good and the polybush kit is very good aswell.
Evo 9's as new and shiny as they look, don't forget they started in 2005 so that's 7 years old now, and there are a few that haven't been looked after as well as they should have been.
If you're looking at spending £10,500 on one it probably won't be the best and it could need maintenance work on it, which generally isn't cheap. In my opinion I think it would be best to spend around the £13k mark and find a looked after car with the engine work already carried out.

Very nice car you have there. Its almost exactly what I am after! Out of interest what would I expect to pay for a car similarly specced as yours?
Point taken regarding buying a car with the work already carried out. I just dont want to buy an abused car that's going to be a ticking time bomb.

I had a feeling you may say that! If im being honest I would really like to stay within my £12,000 budget. But I shall bare it in mind. I have just googled how much your coilovers cost :O

These seem like pretty good deals, especially if there is a bit of movement in the pricing..

yeah they both look like good cars, i prefer the one in aberdeen, but it's a 1000 mile trip for you coming from cambridgeshire so it's worth bearing that in mind aswell.
With regards to mine I'll find out how much I owe to the finance company and I'll send you a pm with regards to what price we can do;)

Me too, in all honesty it will probably be around June when I actively start looking as:

1) I am breaking up my old car & it takes a little while to gather up all the money
2) I turn 22 in June so it will be best for me to wait for insurance purposes.

Feel free to PM your best price though j dog!

It is easier and cheaper to achieve 400bhp from the 9.
I was "looking" at the 8's because they were cheaper. The whole reason I started this thread was to get some advice & opinions as I don't know much about the car. And from taking peoples advice, I am leaning towards the 9.

Ok I got my e8 260 to 388bhp and 386lbft at 1.7 bar for the total cost of £200 and that included sorting suspension, geo etc and had switchable maps one for fuel economy and one for all out fun :)
Research what your options are, use good second hand parts where you can and also talk to some tuners and tell them what you want to use the car for etc. if you fancy some track action try the sprint series on Mlr or If you want to be a show queen then talk to evogeof and nickygixer as they have some really nice e9s

You must have got some bargains doing all that for £200!

I am ideally after a fast road setup, tracking it would be a very rare occasion.. looks wise OEM+ nothing too fancy just subtle mods here and there.

If I were to buy an E9 it would have to be pre-modded due to them being so close to the top of my budget, if it were an 8 I would been looking for a clean low mileage example.

The fact the 9 is a little lighter than the 8 sways me too & obviously newer, stronger engine & a better turbo are all key points too.

As you say, I now need too spend some time working out exactly what I want. Its all a bit much to take in and make a decision.
