newbie! advice needed for first purchase for a evo

hi,
wicked site!
im looking for some advice on my first purchase.
after looking on numerous adverts im noticing that evos seem to have quite alot of owners in there life time, is this generally the case with them?
im looking at one, 1996 evo vi looks really nice but it has 8 owners??
and i was goin on sat to hopefully bring her home but now the owners has put me off alot.
what do u guys think? is 8 owners alot??
i understand it comes down to price aswell but mainly worried about the big 8 in the logbook?

8 owners for a 1996 evo isnt alot ive known cars of that year with 15 or more owners so id say thats not bad evo v`s only have low owners as when they are imported they have new owners on the logbook when imported

doesnt mean to say the car hadnt had 8 owners in japan tho

me personally would opt for a v not a iv as the iv has engine problems

someone else will be along to tell u more tho for now welcome

Personally I would not be bothered, nor am I surprised that the Evo you are interested in has 8 previous owners.

It does not really make a difference as long as the car has always been maintained on a regular basis and everything works as it should.

I still do not understand why it would, or does for that matter, affect the value of a car as in my personal opinion, lady driver cars have equal chances of having issues but every one seems to think they will get a factory condition engine if it has been owned by a lady driver

I would have to agree with Steve and say go for a V or newer.

It would help if you take some time and read through the tech posts to see what generally goes wrong and how it is cured.

When checking the car for problems associated with the engine management and warning lights you need to turn the ignition key until all of the lights come on in the speedo cluster to make sure that no bulbs have been removed and then, when you start the car, wait to make sure that all of the lights go out.

Hi and Welcome to the best evo owners site on the web - I would agreed with El, go for a 5 / Check what work has been done on the 4, see if its had an engine change at some point, also how well has it been maintanened and how money has been spent on it with regards to looking after - Look for lots of receips and serives - As it could be a good motor.

As a trader I gotta say that they are all right and most times it is exactly what Wayne has pointed out that tends to be the case.......buy it only to find that they need to remortgage just to pay for insurance etc.
