Hello and thanks for having me.
I will be picking up very nice blue Evo 4 in about 3 days and have being cruising the tech forum here for information. I think I covered every tech post that had Evo 4 in the subject since the beginning of the archives here.
I am by no means new to the 4G63. Back in the states I have a 1990 Eagle Talon TSi AWD in storage that I have owned since 1996. I've done all the work on it including tearing down the motor, transmission, and replacing about everything on the car. It has a TD05H 20g pushing about 23psi (1.58 bar) on stateside pump gas.
My plans are not to have this Evo match the performance of my Talon, but it will be hard for me to own this car and not play with it a little
It will come with a HKS cat back but is otherwise bone stock.
After reading here on the site I have a few questions, so I'll just list them in order for ease of responses:
1. Can the stock fuel pressure regulator handle the flow of an upgraded pump without being overrun?
2. What is the diameter of the stock downpipe, and is the pipe press bent or mandrel bent?
3. Is the Evo 5-8 ecu a straight drop in replacement with 560's or are there any wires that need to be swapped for it to work?
4. What is the center bore diameter of the stock wheels?
5. I thought I read somewhere on here that the stock clutch is a twin plate, but I'm finding that hard to believe. The car I'm looking at has a brand new stock clutch. How much power can it handle before requires something with more grip?
My first mod will be a new timing belt for sure. I've been through my share of timing belt mishaps and they all sucked. Fortunately only 1 toasted my motor.
All things considered I probably should have just picked up an Evo 3 since it is a much closer in layout to my Talon, but the Evo 4-6 is by far my favorite body style.
