new to the evo

hi guys just bought ny first evo4 and am loving it,however it is still in khm and resticted,i know how to sort this but does the restriction restrict the car through all gears cause mine is pulling no where near like its 270bhp.PLEASE HELP thanks james

yes. if once restricted it should pull well in all gears.
silly to say but it should redline to 7500rpm'
they 276bhp standard.

Thanks for the replies it does go round to the recline just no torque getting there, turbo kicks i'n at 3000 and by 4500 just flat nothing no real pull!!!!!!

Hmm, there's a good chance your timing is out and possibly balance shaft belt has snapped!! Sounds like a problem I had on a e4 I bought some time ago. Does the engine noise change at all?

What does your car do?

Regarding the restrictor, the car will still rev as normal and you'll get it upto 180 km/h without any probs but then it will just seem like the engine cuts out as you hit the restrictor.

I'm sure El will be alonog shortly and some of the other guys will be able to help you

I say do away with it and blow everything away on the roads lol.

From my limited knowledge limiters shouldnt sap your power or torque or anything like that ur car is just limited to a certain mph you can reach then when u reach that limit set the car feels like its driving through tar and then starts splurting...

Hi and Welcome here - The limiter shouldn’t be causing the problem - You say you start to loose power at about 4500 rpm, is the turbo boosting ok, have you got boost gauge? You might wanna check its boosting properly. I'm quite new to the knowledge of evos, but I have had two cars with turbos before and they both went - So its just a thought.

El and the other guys should be along soon and they will be able to point you in the right direction.

All sorted people thanks fir your help, it was the actuator spring car is now running 276.4 bhp just need to get the injectors and ecu on and I'll have 300 quality thanks again

think he is on about the restrictor don't know about all the evos but standard the 4 comes restricted to around 115mph you can wire a delimter in and it changes the speedo from kmh to mph and lets go as fast as you want/can, but the rev limiter still works as normal. i think you can change that by mapping the ecu.
