Hello guys and girls! Just thought I would sign on to the forum and say hello. Recently sold my old car and now looking into getting an evo 9. Ideally wanting a gunmetal one, around the 13k mark. Do I stand much chance? Been looking around and they seem to be really hard to find
Thanks
Martin

If you want a gunmetal 9 then I think you can only look for the MR360 version, which I doubt you'll get for 13k....a good one anyway...? The gunmetal colour is very sought after, so you might be better going for an 8 if the colour is most important, or thinking about a different colour if you want a 9...

Good luck though...

PS. and welcome, I'm new here too!

Thanks guys :) I had a feeling the gun metal is a sought after colour in the 9 because you barely ever see them. Done some research and found out that the GT model has the better diff and stronger gearbox, but doesn't have as many added extras as the MR? The gun metal is defo the preferred colour but not essential. Just looks smart. Really want a 9 though

Thanks daz. Looking forward to meeting a few of you when I get the new ride!
I have just been speaking to someone about an evo 9 with approx 435bhp. Now I know the engines normally start to need strengthening around the 400bhp mark, this one has had titanium Conrod pins. Is that enough for the power it's running?
Thanks

Simply put no. If they've gone to the trouble of expensive titanium pins then why not fit new forged rods. You'll want to see a receipt of parts and labour for the work.

That's what I was thinking, seems odd that the rods haven't been done? I'll look into it

It's the torque that tends to throw a rod, so on standard internals on a IX I wouldn't want to go much more than the standard stage 1 mark of 400/400...

As already said, get it checked out what's been/not been done with receipts so you know what parts have been used plus, as important, whose done it...! :D:D

Also when you guys say 400/400, is that 400lb and 400bhp at the fly? Or wheel horse power?

Fly. We're in the UK. Guy's in the US use wheel horse power although it's actually at the fly 'wheel' lmao
Makes it sound better....

Okie dokie cheers. This guy I'm chatting to seems to think his Is 435 at the fly and 345 at the wheel. That about right? I'm asking about the rods ATM

Possibly but at what boost and any graphs to prove it?

Not sure what the boost is but on standard turbo, 3" elbow and exhaust. I have seen the graph showing 345 which he says is at the wheel
