Right as you know my aircon pump screwed up last week and the bearings collapsed causing a lot of friction, friction = heat therefore where my aux belt was sitting on the pulley it heated it up and snapped it. So...... I replaced the belt with an rs belt non aircon and got the car runnin, I couldn't deal with the noise of the pulley rattling about so I pulled the aircon pump off all together and a couple of the pipes, since I have done this I have a strange noise appeared. Initially I thought it was the belt touching something like timing chest cover so I pulled the pulley cover off bolted timing chest in properly and popped it all back together but this hasn't done anything to the noise, and nothin else comes close to touching it. I wouldn't have thought it was the altinator pulley as it wouldn't start all of a sudden because of a new belt.
Now I have a theory, now I have taken the aircon pump off there is now a nice big space so could my noise be the turbo? Maybe it made the noise before but I had a bit limpid metal sitting next to it stopping the noise from travelling for me to hear, it's not a whiney noise it's more a wooshy noise and I have no hint of boost leak.
Basically has anyone else removed their aircon and noticed a noise which is only while driving, I have revved the car on the spot from the front and can't hear nothing where if it was the belt or belt related it would do it while stationary where the turbo only spools up while driving
Anyone
