New from Norfolk and need some help

Hi All,

I'm Beckie and I have an Evo 6. Not had it long but was loving it until the balance shaft belt snapped (previous owner had done the cam belt but not the balance shaft belt). I spent the money and got it fixed, I got some new pulleys and a clear cam cover, was running great until the adjuster bolts unwound and one got wedged in the cover and shredded half of the new belt. So back to square one again.

Now heres where I need help new belt on and timed up perfect, got fuel getting to the plugs and got a spark. It turns over and tries to fire but wont catch...

Does anyone have any ideas?

hello and welcome.....

it could have damaged the crank shaft position sensor, or some debry came from belt and could be logded in the teeth of the timing sprocket.

Welcome along. Wow that's a he'll of a start to ownership.

Could be cam/crank pos sensor pull it out give a clean and back in or straight replace

Its had a new set of pulleys since, new belt, new cam sensor and new crank sensor.

Its a mystery

sounds like they have missd something if it still aint working.

who has been doing the work?

My other half hes a mechanic, everything is plugged in where it should be and has gone back as it was before when it was working. We have left the pluge out as they were soaked and the pistons were as well it couldnt be that could it??

has the belt jumped any teeth you reckon?

could be something as simple as an earth if your getting a spark, could be many things

check the cam timing again and it may be i idea to do a compression check :O)

and if you can try some new plugs , plugs that have been soaked in fuel dont like to work properly even when dry :O)

Hi & Welcome, jave you checked the bearing for your balance shaft as these spin/rotate 3-4 times faster than your engine and do wear quickly and this is why it is a good idea to use a balance shaft eliminator kit to remove it as these are a potential weak spot. Also when the balance shaft belt broke the timing belt could of jumped a tooth or a couple of teeth and cause some internal damage. Good idea to to do a compression check on it.
