Hi all new to the forum names damien just brought myself a yellow evo 7 and the guy i brought it from really didnt now much about the car but had a dyno printout for the evo of 307bhp but its no where near that at the moment and have a few problems with the car.

1, The idle is abit irratic after slowing down to traffic lights etc it sits at around 1500 to 2000rpm the settles down after a few seconds why is this?

2, The car peaks at 0.8bar then settles to 0.65 this is from the reading on a Greedy boost gauge and greedy profec spec b. i was told it should be at around a bar?

3, The profec has been set up, well say set up all the setting have been changed etc but with the controller of on lo and on hi it does the exact same,

4, Can anyone tell from the engine bay pic what is not standard i know it has larger ic and after market manifold but can anyone see anything else

5, How good are the standard bov? cause it seems its running one but maybe this could be causing a boost leak?

Nice car mate, sounds like you have a boost leak, standard recirc valves are plastic and fail quickly,

Post up a proper newbie thread aswell ...

You may have a boost leak or problem with the profec.

Plumb the actuator direct to the j pipe. Should see around 0.7 bar boost.

Erratic idle would indicate an idle reset is needed.

As Craig said, get a metal dv. The plastic one's do leak.

And on a personal note, dump the tubular manifold for a std one. They tend to crack around the welds....

thanks for all the replys the car is only on 31k :) i do know my way round a turbo to a certain extent and have tracked down the profect selnoid and its not plumbed in so that shows that and also on the standard plastic dump valve which is the one that goes back into the air filter 1the plastic nipple is snapped and the vacum pipe has been plugged with a screw, pictures below

could anyone tell me if there is a 2nd bov aswell? i have another pipe coming of the top ic pipe which is going to what looks like a another re circ?

thanks for all the posts

You got a pic of the second pipe? Scrap the bov and pop a new one in or even dump valve,

which 2nd pipe? also noticed today when driving it the boost was going uo and down really quick between 0.5-0.6 bar like something was opening and closing really fast

would it be a good idea to bung the original bov to see if it is leaking?

Do you have another pic of what you think is a second recirc valve cos should only have one.
0:80 is actuator pressure so should just hold that if the actuator is just plumbed back into J pipe off bottom of turbo.

I'd also suggest getting it mapped again. Could be someone has messed up the settings or tried to put it back to stock as the map was a bit flakey.

Get your plumbing done properly first and then see if that eliminates the fluctuating boost and revs, then get the map done.

Any strange whining or whistling noises when driving? If so, check the turbo for play too as this could be on the way out - like mine!

nope all sounds good when driving tbh the turbo makes a healthy whistle has you would expect going to look at plumbing now

thanks for all the replys

Now I have had a proper read of this without distractions here is what I have come up with.

So the solenoid was unplugged yh? Maybe because it was faulty who knows, try plumbing that back in for starters, if you put the pipes on wrong way round it will just run actuator pressure 0.8 the recirc valve is screwed and like I said replace that ASAP, now the uneasy idle could be down to the fact that the vaccume pipe has a screw in it because if I was to take mine off the revs would drop and nearly stall so the car revs lightly to save it, a new valve you can plug in that hose and all should be well and good, as for the boost dropping off its a leak IMO and should be resolved by just putting the car back together

The small pipe thats got the bolt in should go the the recirc valve for it to work :)

sorry my mistake i thought it was unplugged but it isnt ive took the air filter etc of and the boost controller is all plugged in so will have a play with it see if it adjusts the boost what so ever.

@B6lee yeah i thought so but oviously can connect to the recirc has the plastic nipple is broke onit so am on the look out for another one but i have bunged the 2 holes for now and seems to be a bit better but will replace asap

Can anyone tell me what that silver thing is on the block that the pipe of the intercooler pipe goes into?

Also turbo looks all good no play or anything took a pic

still tryin to track down where the boost leak could be from thou

is this correct the boost controller has a vacum from the actuator to it then a vacum from the pipe that connects to bottom of turbo to it? just been out and boost peak was .77 that was with playin with the controller any ideas where i could have a boost leak to?

or should it come from the vacum of the air cleaner pipe?

Start with the basics ....
Plumb actuator direct to turbo. This will help find boost leak if you have one. Std boost is 0.8 but gauges can vary +/- 0.1

Then find instructions for setting profec and get working on that.

No point doing it the other way round ...

DV/BOV needs replacing with better metal one.

No pipes should be plugged with a screw.

Pic 1, top left of the head with pipe going to ic pipe and pipe going to exhaust mani?? This is not a dv/bov. It's your sas ....
Or do you meen the throttle body??
