You sure it's not an 8 dressed as a 9 ? as that would also explain the incorrect engine fitted but correct for an 8 dressed as a 9. Does the speedo on right say Lancer or Evolution ?

Lancer

Looking like an 8 dressed as a 9 it's an MR as And has said so not all is lost.

Before I bought my 8 I ran the reg and vin through mitsubishi to check it's what it was ment to be nowerdays it's better to be safe then sorry.

Some consultation is you now know what parts you need for the engine as you know what's in there.

If private you have less leverage then if it was a dealer. You would have grounds on the fact it was falsely advertised but would require a solicitor and a day in court if the person you bought it off gave no joy also how long have you had it.

It was a private sale I wish it was trade.

It has ralliart behind the speedo clock, it says 340MR on the stamp (easy to change I know) all the hks piping, hks dragger exhaust. ralliart half leather seats and door cards and mudflaps etc.

So if its a mr its got to be 320/340 right? Its strange cause I can feel how much hp a cars got just by driving it. I'd say it feels around 340 for sure. As its faster than my previous car at 310hp.

It will be a nice car once you sorted I think you may have to take this one on the chin and hopefully learn to check more not everyone is honest mate or go.l the court route but it may cost you.. You have one of the better spec 8's. You must of liked the look of it ect to buy it so I would make it the best you can and enjoy it or sell it but will be at a loss so may as well keep it not a case of its dodgy it's just been advertised incorrectly as the engine and bits fitted are correct for what it really is.

I guess so bud but its the not knowing thats worrying tho, as in how many miles is on the engine.
The thing is I did check it alot, I was more concerned about the service history at the time. It's only got 34,000 on the clock and checked the mot history, even rang mitsubshi to confirm the service's that was done with them, they had info all the way up to 28000 miles. But no engine change :meh:

But as it's an 8 it would be the correct engine that you are looking at so the millage will tally upto that engine. Also does the engine number on hpi and logbook match the one in the car this will also confirm it's the original engine as fitted to an 8

No it doesn't Match the engine code is ab but on the hpi its kk.

Ab I have seen on this forum is from a 6

Kk on the hpi I believe is a 8

Best thing to do is get it booked in with either someone on here who knows them well and get them to give it a once over and they will give you a report. Then from that report you can decide what you want to do.

To be honest I'm going to get rid of this slight miss fire, probably due to 9 plugs. And sell it on but going to put it as a 8. As its needed nothing but money thrown at it.
But it does drive really well, its just I will always have this in the back of my mind and it's not for me.

Want to own a car I can be proud of not one that's been thrown together by Del boy and Rodney lol.

Oil will be fine as long as it's good quality. I'd put in some ngk 8brs plugs in there gaped at 0.55mm. Then if still miss firing take it to some one than can check the map and fueling.

Are these 6 or 8 plugs as I'm still really unsure if its a 8 head or what.
