Hi guys, need a few words of advice about buying an evo.Loved them for years now i think because im actually looking to buy im jumping in and getting the check book out every time i see one with a price tag on it.Looking at evo v as i like the look of them but price more the issue.Need finance to buy the car but most dont touch jap imports any advice?I have seen a nice evo v which an ex evo owners club member traded in so the motor looks spotless and seems well looked after. Is a evo 5 worth buying or do i hold out for something newer?soz cant put a link up as the garage not put it on the net yet. Many thanks

Who is selling the car? You would be better off with a personal loan don't get finance I have learned this the hard way. Better rates with bank. If you like a v get one personally I prefer the v1 but I have an v111 there is plenty of buying advice on here in various threads maybe see if a member is close to you to come check the car out most on here would do a favour like that

its evolution car sales in dunfermline who is selling the car.The guy has been realy helpfull and also suggested a bank loan.I have read through most of the buying threads and got some good advice about checking the car over and what papper work to look for.Dose it need certain paperwork if its an import?e.g certificate for uk?If i go for a uk version its cheeper to insure and will get finance easyer but heard the uk versions arn't that great, what u think? Thanks

7 onwards there was uk versions all models before that were all imports but essentially they are all imported. Nothing wrong with uk versions they are made specifically for uk market that's all and the model name differs slightly ie fq and mr. Again I would say bank loan is the way forward they don't care what the money goes on as long as you pay it back and the intrest is spread out evenly unlike finance where the intrest is front loaded so basically over a 5 year term for example after 3 years you would think that you would hve paid over half and you would be in positive equity so u decide to px your car only to find you still per more than your car is worth.........

How much are you going to budget for a car? Not sure on paperwork needed but a uk logbook would prob be a good start. Check and see if any nods have been done and if yes who did them and are their recipts

If your buying off a specific evo shop I would hve thought they would be quite straight up maybe someone on here has had some dealings with them

So what do you think of the v1 because if its age your thinkin of they are in some vases quite a bit newer

Ralliart uk cars are essentially imports anyway it's just that colt uk imported them. Re-mapped them, converted speedo and fitted fog light in the rear bumper and then sold to the uk Market.

Why insurance companies need to charge a different rate I have no idea.

Each model of Evo was improved as each new one came out so really it's down to your budget :)

if you like the v or v1, or even the TME, with your budget there is a TME GOIN VERY VERY CHEAP INDEED, not sure if on here or MLR may be worth a look.....
but as said above go for a 7/8 if you can afford,
