mystery turbo on iv, no numbers!!!

hey I was chatting to an evo tuner yesterday, I said my 1996 iv is supposed to have a later or bigger turbo, of course he said just look at its numbers, well I tried and.....well........






any idea guys?!!!

actually now ive posted this and looked at the big pics I realize there ARE some really FAINT numbers in pic 2 but hardly readable !!

9.8t would indicate a std 8 turbo. As you've had a rebuild twice on the engine. It wouldn't surprise me if you have a different Turbo to a std 4...

I agree

It's the same turbo that's been put on mine std evo 8 turbo.

Mines coming off soon though for a 10.5t like it should have

that's true, the motor has 9 crank and rods so prob an 8 turbo,
I was talking to simon Norton tuning man last night and he said he would be really surprised if someone bothered to re-build a 4 block cos he said there is a small half moon washer thing on the crank that's only 6mm and when worn leads to crank walk whereas on the 5 on blocks the same half moon thing is at least 12mm so most people change to a newer block when faced with a shot 4 motor as mine was, he asked me the block number and im sure its a standard 4....

I was gonna message you but then I thought you'd prob look on the tech bit today anyhow!
so now you know it has an 8 turbo will that give it any more go after all the bits and mapping?!

Yes for sure, with 9 pistons and rods you can run up to around 1.8 bar
