Hi all, a couple of pics of my other car. It's a 1996 Escort Cosworth, running standard apart from 18" Rondells and a K&N Induction Kit. I've had it about 7 years now and it's off the road at the moment for some much needed TLC. The bodywork needs attention and im wanting to do an engine rebuild but i might not get the time. Hope the pics are ok, they're done with my mobile. Once it's had all the work done it needs i'll invest in a decent camera and take some quality pics.

It isn't packed with the goodies that modern cars are but for looks and road presence, you cant beat it.......but im biased lol

Oh, and its got 4 wheel drive. Not some fancily named rubbish driving the wrong wheels. lol

Lol, old skool wins every time imo. Lots more personality, much more of an event to drive.

Well the 4 RS is the first Jap car i've owned and i must say that in terms of value for money i really dont think it can be beaten. The straight line performance is better than the Cossies as well but the Cossie has less power as standard (which mines is). The steering feels much more direct on the Evo as well and the Evo stops better than the Cossie. In terms of road handling i find the Cossie sticks to the road like glue but the Evo measures up pretty well here as well.

All in all i'd say that a speed and handling comparison would show the Evo to be the better car, the Cossie is feeling it's age a bit now. 230bhp really isn't enough for a car with the Escorts looks.

If i HAD to get rid of one of them, im afraid i'd be sitting in my Cossie waving goodbye to the Evo though. In term of exclusivity and looks and over all smile on the face driving, the Cossie wins hands down imo. I'll never get rid.

lol,
i,m with u david,i think theres not much in it,like u say the evos r gud value 4 money,the evos i,ve had,never let me down,been up hill,down dale in all weathers?lol.

& like u say showing the age a bit now the cossie,,2 b honest me & my m8s was dissapointed with the standard power of the cossies,,the 4x4 seem 2 bog down a little with the gearbox system?.

but i can say david when u start having a play with them,[i reckomend a stg3 conversion personaly,the greens,,3bar route]lol.
then they hop on 4 there age??.
the e/cossies getting collectable now so ya deffo keep it if u can

i suppose every motor does when modded though..

cheers

Yeah i agree, they have to be tinkerd with to get the best out of them now. Mines standard at the mo but that may change in the future. Mines the small turbo version so a bit more drivable than the big turbo but alot less tuneable unfortunately. Still get 300 bhp out of it though.

Yeah its good. I tested a few GSR's when i was shopping and was impressed with them. They've obviously got more driver aids than the RS. The RS seems very quick through 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear, but the low ratio gear box makes it a bit heavy on fuel and a bit less driver friendly. Also the 4th and 5th gear acceleration isn't that great, the Cossie could easily keep up at top end, but 0-100 comes up very quickly. Too quick for the Cossie lol.

Dont you have an Evo at the moment? How many of them have you had?

Have you had a Subaru before? My wife keeps banging on about getting one, an earlier one, maybe a 1996, but im not convinced. They are really ten a penny up here. There's a few Evos right enough but no where near as many as the Scoobies.
