when i saw a couple with a pram walking past towards the harbour, thinking nothing of it a few minuets later a scabby old w-reg ldv camper van came towards the harbour passing the parked cars when i saw it stop and the driver got out and picked up of the ground what i thought was chip wrapper, he looked around and jumped into his van and drove off.
now i thought this looked a bit suspicious and i was going to get his reg number but didnt bother all i knew it was a white w-reg ldv camper van.
few minuets later the lad who was with his wife and baby came running back looking all over and went to his car looking too. so i went over and asked had he lost something and was it white???
yes he replied my wifes dropped out camera with all there new baby photos on it.
i replied i just saw some bloke pick it up and drive off with it. now this was right out side maryport aquarium Lake District Coast Aquarium | Winner of the Cumbria Tourism Visitor Attraction of the Year 2010 so he could of took the camera in there reporting it lost
right i said jump in the lorry and i drove around in the direction of the way the van went and we found nothing :shake:
we then went back to the aquarium where his wife and baby was waiting and i went to the manager asking to see the cctv, he said give us 10 mins ill have a look. me and the guy exchanged phone numbers in case i saw the van again and he was going to ring the police, we shook hands and i went on with my day (it gets better :naughty:
)
upon driving round the corner a police van with 2 plods in it came my direction so i flagged them down explaining what had happened and to go see the bloke at the aquarium, i followed to make sure they found the right family then i was away again (it gets even better now
)
on driving past where i flagged the cops down is a local dog walking place where dog ownere let there dogs crap everywhere :shake: and behold i saw the van. that was it i drove over in my 18t lorry blocking any exit for him or anyone else in the carpark then phoned the aquarium where the cops were telling them the van is blocked in by me, i then asked him was he going to hand that camera in that he just picked up off the floor, he replied whats it got to do with me
big mistake, i replied its got uk all to do with me but the cops may want a word with you
he then started getting nasty calling me a doo gooder and he would remember my face so he would see me again :mhihi::mhihi::mhihi: he must of been about 65
anyway then the cops arrived a behold the camera was under the van seat, he said he was going to hand it in :yawn::yawn::yawn: ye ye my ass he would of :shake:
anyway cops took statement from me i rang up the family who lost the camera to give them the good news and they were so made up and so thankful and the wife came on the phone in tears thanking me too as all there new born baby piccys was on the camera. they asked for my address to send me something in the post for what i done for them
anyway thats my good deed of the day done and i feel bloody fantastic
