My first evo

Hi guys,

Just a quick hello and a bit of info about me. Im very new to the evo scene, but have had a few cars over the years, mainly jap but a couple of german cars too.
I have had a string of scoobies over the last couple of years, and i single turbo skyline R33. But im glad i went for a lancer this time as its such a different animal than a scooby, i dont think i will go back either.

I have an imported evo 8 280, dont really know much about the 280 weather its an fq or a gsr or even an mr??? as ive read so many different things about it.
I will post some pics later so the guys in the know can have a look and tell me more about it maybe. All i know is its quicker than my old 05 sti

It is a six speed, and what exactly do you meanraised bits on the roof? do you mean a vortex generator?

Your car is equivalent to a Uk FQ300 minus a couple of things.
No, not a vortex generator. What I meant was does your evo have a raised bulge on each side of the roof? Will be approx. 50cm long, next to the plastic gutter strips (see pic.). You can just about make it out on my pic!!
Does your chassis number start CT9A 020 or is it CT9A 030?

Ah i see, no mine does not have the bumps, just a flat roof, i will check the chassis number tomorrow and let you know. Thanks for the help.

defo not an MR i'm afraid! Your chassis number should start CT9A 020. The MR chassis code starts CT9A 030

Delete your chassis number off mate. Only needed upto the 020 bit to tell if it's an MR or not. Change while you can still edit it

Having looked on the engine code post ElDopesta put up in the tech stuff bit,
I checked mine out and it has HM stampped on it.
Can anyone tell me if my car is infact a 280? as it was advertised as a fq300 and its not, and its also not a 260. (i think)
