Glad ur ok its a shame but these things happen. A rebuild sounds the best plan the 1 too rare to scrap

Glad you are OK.

What was the signpost made out of concrete!!

That's a fair old whack :(

Good luck with restoring and as already mentioned invest the time and money in getting it propely straightened and reinforced, don't cut corners, do it properly.

Have you declared to the insurance company as they may want to assess the damage themsleves and could consider in cat B and not allow it to be restored.

I think cat C and D are OK though

done a bit of a strip today a few areas of concern the drivers side door gap is a little bigger than it was, a spot weld in passenger door shut has popped (only one) and the engine is sitting a little twisted, looks like the engine mounts have buckled a bit.

a friend is getting me a number to a man with a mobile jig so will know more after he has been, will keep you all informed.
thanks again to every one for your concerns

the radiater has pushed back and split the oil filter and lost most of the oil so will have to investigate to see if any damage caused ( can see a 2.3 stroker kit coming)

Gutted for you mate. Glad you're ok and no one was injured. Machines can be repaired and replaced, people can't! Hope you can get it back on the road :)

gutted to see this. u hit it at a fair old whack.
main thing is ur ok

but hate to tell ya, thats gunna be a pig to get back right. my mrs crashed mine a few years ago (not an evo) and unless you jig it and replace the whole front end, it wont ever be the same again. i was lucky mine wasnt that bad so managed to bend most of the metal work back, but my front lights arent in right.

Looking at the above pics i would say its the end of its life :( it has bent it once a car has been bent like that no matter what you do will never be the same sorry to say but looks like you will either be looking for another shell or another car in my opinion

+1 4wd cars must be perfectly aligned

Also it would cost a bomb to get her repaired PROPERLY

I bent a chasis leg in a glanza and I got a quote of 4000 to get her repaired so I sold the car for parts :(

Thanks guys

We're having changes of heart with this one all the time.

Priced the whopping list of things we need (can shop around for cheaper at point of buying) 2500 without respray, good paint job on it will bump us up to around 4000-4500, price of a new car me thinks. But we dont have that kinda money lying around.

But I have got a number for someone that can jig her on the drive and tell us if and how far and they will straighten her. will set us back about £100 for the cheek so that might be first option.

Either way all I can afford at the mo is a cheap runabout until I've saved abit up.

So do I try and buy a rolling chasis and make 1 good car out of the 2 or over a period of time, bit by bit rebuild and make her into a project track car with roll cage etc??

Is the engine badly damaged?

Cos if it's still fine you could break the rest of the car sell everything and you should have enough cash to buy 1 with a blown engine and put ur engine in ;)?or gearbox

If that makes any sense

Need to pick an oil filter up so we can start her and have a look.

If the engine and gearbox is fine and chasis bent we will deffo look for one with a blown engine.

This is the better option but space is not on our side here, we only have the little drive out front and a shed in the back garden

Dont take this wrong but i would not be wasting £100 for someone to tell you its bent i cant tell you it is by the pictures that car is uneconomical to repair to the standard it was. As for it being jigged on your drive i for one are skeptical because jigging a car is a specialist job. Pulling a car on a jig can even go the other way if pulled incorrectly. If i was in your present position with limited funds i would buy a cheap runaround to get you by and strip that car and salvage what you can of it and buy another one on the upside if you get one the same you will have plenty of spares. Also for that car to be repaired PROPERLY it will be more money then you could buy one for. If you do go ahead and repair it and then you go to drive it and it drives like a dog ( most cars hit that hard will do ) you will then be stuck with a car that owes you ££££ that wont be nice to drive and you will struggle to sell.

Dont take any of the above wrong im just simply giving my opinion on what i think would be the most cost effective and sensible thing to do

Cheers

Thanks Marty

Your right, we're going to buy something else and use this one to swap things over, perhaps something a little differant or an Evo.

Im not going to get the jigger guy to come out, i've had enough opinions to sway me away from this

Thanks x
