My Evo now SORN :(

It's been well documented I have a few issues with my EVO that I planned to sorted and it has been sitting in the garage for a while.

I had planned to bite the bullet and get some of the major jobs done on her but at the weekend reached the final straw as the car wouldn't start!

Not a peep, not even a flicker when I turned the key over. It's not a flat battery as the alarm works fine (albeit not been set). Just nothing happens apart from a continuous ticking noise from under the dashboard that keeps repeating even after the key have been removed! (Only stopped it by disconnecting the battery)

So i've reached final straw, the MOT has expired and given this and the need for some electrical work to the rear fog and in need of a CAT which I don't have i've decided to SORN the vehicle for now while I decide to save up the cash.

So i'll probably be a little quiet from now on while I sulk into my coffee for a few months :sad:

A dud battery will cause the solenoid to click, yes there may be a charge in the battery but not enough cranking power, hence the click click you hear.

A 'friendly' mot'r will soon sort your cat problem out!

50 for battery and 20 for drinks for MOT's and your on your way again!

Fog lights easy enough to wire in yourself. Kits on ebay for £12ish

+1 on the dud battery. Had this on 3 cars now. 12v reading and will run a test light but not a hope of it turning over a starter. Your local battery emporium (or even Halfords) should be able to test it for you - usually for free

Thanks Guys - So could be simple battery problem then. This would make sense given the use it has had in the last few months and the fact its been used as a charging station for all the other cars visiting my driveway!!

However, I cant charge from another car, not a peep.

I'll buy and a new battery and see if it helps.

Friendly MOTer sounds good It's only the CAT that would fail and the fog light which I still have somewhere.

Just really miffed as I want to plough my money into getting the EVO right but money keeps going elsewhere at the moment!

Can you borrow a battery off somebody Get yourself a trickle charger if you keep it locked away

i have friendly mot stations in derby and loughbourgh, on battery side disconnect it and put on a slow trickle charge for a few days it may recover or may be buggered but worth a try!!! let me no if you want the car mot'ing

Can't beat a friendly garage I was like you mate totally pi££ed off with the evo ,but I am glad I got it back on the road , just stick at it mate do bit at a time it will be worth it

Dnt give up invisible, all can be sorted, when it comes down to evos havin probs you know I'm the king at this, have learnt to grit my teeth and keep pumpin blood and sweat into it,
