boys and girls after waiting nearly 2 months the insurance people have wrote off my Evo really gutted it only looked like it had pushed the back bumper in and popped the boot but they are saying it's going to cost too much to repair!!!!

Trying to buy it back off them but struggling at the Minute!!

they sent me a letter confirming that they have wrote it off (received it Saturday) so im going to call them tomorrow to discuss buying it back, Gutted if they dont let me cause it had a few mods which would of been nice.

Only if you buy the car!
As soon as they pay you for writing it off they have bought the car. You can get a lesser payout and keep the car sometimes but most of the time the insurance will want the car as they have contracts with salvage yards.

not completly true nick. mate of mine wrote his IV off when a lamp post jumped out and we stripped it to a shell and then sent off the distruction notice. we kept it in our own storage, insurance came out to acess the car. my mate said he wanted to keep it in the dry, the insurance rang to say it was write off and would send a lorry out to collect it for distruction so my mate said to keep the cost down could he take it to registered car disposal site himself they said yea no problem. so we stripped it and weighed it in and sent off the notice and they sent out a cheque for just over £4000

Yeah, you got authorisiation to keep the car and dispose of it. As soon as it was written off and a fee agreed it was theirs, they just chose to let you dispose of it.
But just keeping it or disposing of it without their agreement is liable to get you a zero payout!

Thanks for all the info guys having read these i have contacted the insurance and they are going to make me an offer with a few of me getting rid of the evo!! thankfully wen a brought the evo i brought gap insurance so if it got written off i would get back what i paid for regardless of what the insurance company offer!
