Craig the noise from my engine have just been told is the tappets so I checked the service records and I forgot to service her oil change every 4500 miles, it's now been 7500miles so I think that is what it is. I don't understand why the tappets would make noise but I think it's cause the oil we use is very thin and it's worn out even though it looks like new oil just wondering would an oil change sort that out???

You don't have tappets in your engine, you've got lash adjusters which work off oil pressure. Shitty oil = blocked lash adjusters = noise.

dont blame yourself, its probably not the late oil change thats caused it cos these little buggers often cause problems.

as said get them cleaned with diesel or parafin or contact indigo-gt for some larger 3mm ones :)

You could do it yourself. Easier with 2 of you. If you're going to remove them go for the 3mm ones as Lee has said. Total around £300 max if you get the 3mm adjusters and get them swapped by a garage and just the cost of the adjusters if doing yourself

They are way cheaper than that, more like 100 something pounds. And it's about an hour and a half job to do.

No just changing the oil won't cure it, they will need cleaning or replacing

That's good news cause I don't mind spending couple hundred pounds to sort it out. If I go for 3mm will it improve the performance of the car? If I wanted to do this myself how do I do it? I always wanted to know how to do bits and bats myself thanks guys a great relief for me to know
