Why would sum companies give you more bhp with the same mods and others give u less? Example fuel pump decat remap
Car mrfq300. Outcome after mods sum companies 350 others 380 possibly 400
What's the difference I mean all specialists just different bhp to be gained. It's got me well confused

When you pay the same money and get the same mods all by professionals big name garages why go for less power? What would you do why?

I'd buy the products with the most effective outcome then get the car mapped by someone who knows what they're doing.

How much power you get is judged by how much boost you run. If some are only mapping to say 1:40 bar then they ain't going to gain as much power as someone who maps to 1:70 bar boost.

So what would you say the standard pistons would take boost / power wise with supporting mods ,injectors , ect

The MR has stronger rods than previous models and if you swap the cams then you'll see reliable 400bhp :)

Why would sum map to 1.4bar and others to 1.7bar?

i would say some tuners are more confident than others. maybe they worried about blowing summat up................ wimps lol

Loads of people say different things you say about changing cams, extreme say change conrod bolts, and sum say change the injectors but no 1 advises to do all of that for 400bhp which leaves people like me who know very little very confused after speaking to a few garages. Now I was looking on the net and to buy all the bits is cheaper than getting a big garage to buy it. So if it's available to us then why not to bigger garages. Ideally for me it would be good to find sum1 who is cheaper to put all the bits on and map it cause that way I could get more done like change the lash adjusters aswell if I save a few quid on the other parts but that's where the problem is. I mean you want professionals to work on a car then you got to pay more which is not that easy I mean got alot of other expenses right now but I WANa get this done. It's not working out???

if a garage sources the parts the can add on costs. you can alternatively get all the parts and just pay for labour but just make sure the parts are spot on or we could end up with another debate on who to blame when somthing isnt right.

speak to el, or jamie you will have to travel but plenty of people on here would recomend them on here

When tuning a car its a case of you simply get what you pay for. Even in the general motor trade being a mechanic myself you can get some VERY cheap parts pattern and so on and other in the trade like me will know that these will not last as long as a proper item. As for mapping yes you can get it done cheaply there is loads of home tuners out there but look at it this way if they get it wrong it will cost you and most of them are using generic maps and not mapping them to the particular car they are flashing. Another thing is a tuner with a rolling road can see what is happening to the power curve its no good just trying to chase big BHP figures you need a car thats drivable low down as well as mid range a car that has all the grunt up top high in rev range for big figures is not much fun to drive but you get a car that has a good torque curve throughout the rev range is more fun. I know what me personally would sooner have but its your car at the end of the day so you have it how you want

I'm still learning too but I agree with what has been said.

There are many ways to get more power. You first need to decide what sort of numbers you want but don't go chasing these by trying to have a map running really high boost just for willy waving on the dyno!

You want a map that pulls well across the rev range.

I personally would suggest a full 3" exhaust system, induction kit, l255 walbro pump and a remap. I'd say that would get you to 380-400 on standard internals.

If you find you want to push more then you can start to look at uprated internals / turbos etc.

A good tuner will make sure you car is not set up to push the boundaries too far. The last thing you want is a rod through the engine and having to start again!!

Having said that I keep changing my mind!

I agree with you Marty it's just that I want to get good branded reliable parts and get it mapped correctly. I understand the reason behind the torque as when I got my Scooby mapped I saw the difference behind more bhp and good torque, I prefer more torque cause you can feel the power more and it makes the car go better, I mean it's the torque that drives the power right. The only thing is when I got the Scooby mapped all the bits cost me £220 more than what I would of got them for and that's why I was thinking of getting them myself.
I wouldn't blame a garage if it was cos of the parts my upgrade didn't go right, I just WANa save sum money this time round if I can and plus i know what I want now starting with the turbo elbow from turbo technics as there's is agood recommended elbow on the forum. The exhaust what I thought would be good is a miltek but the mongoose keeps Poping up and if sum1 can tell me which Is better that would help???
Then the walbro fuel pump is good and reliable, last the hks reloaded indutction kit sounds good but just a bit confused cause the air box has a pipe that goes right to the front of the car so u get more cool air but with the mushroom in the engine bay and no direct pipe to the front of the car does that not mean it will suck in hot air from the engine bay so is it really a good idea to get it correct me if I'm wrong n e one???

I'd say your in very good hands with mark at ma developments. I have never used him but my car was mapped by him before I bought it. I took it to my tuner and there was nothing wrong with the set up of the car at all.

He is very highly recommended in the Evo and cossie world :)

i would personally go for the miltek exhaust out of the two you mentioned, most people have them or nur spec. the walbro 255 fuel pump also.
if you get a mushroom then you could always get a heat shield around it to keep it cooler........... :D

I know what you mean mate it's probably gna be the mongoose reason being is that I've been advised that when you fit a miltek and another elbow it's alot of work but the mongoose comes with the elbow and so you just put it straight on it's a straight fit hvnt got neither yet still looking into the matter but I've asked a couple of people a week ago but heard nothing back therefore I don't understand why they would say they can supply and fit parts if they can't??

if you have a fq300, you will only need the following

fuel pump, decat, air filter ( panel or induction kit) , remap, maybe a 3 port boost solenoid, and that should see you around 370bhp mark if you fit some cams then you will be near or just over 400bhp, dont go spending stupid money on bits you wont really need at this point, the factory hks down pipe and hks super drager exhaust are fine. invest in a set of discs and pads for the front and leave it at that for a while.

Well thanks gaz5evo my car don't have hks hardpipe or super dragger but I didn't think I wud need cams, injectors, or exhausts etc apart from fuel pump , decat, and remap as my mate got 380bhp from his same model mrfq300 just with fuel pump decat and remap. He got his done at extreme Birmingham. They told him if he wanted more power then he wud have to change his conrod bolts and exhaust to 3inch turbo bck. Thanks mate appreciate the advice. They told him this model can handle them sort of figures comfortably as the internals in the mrs are upgraded neway.

The fq300 comes as standard with hks super drager filter n bits. Do you have a little plate by the gearstick sayin fq300 and its number?
