Mods....what should I achieve?

This has maybe been asked 1000's of time...but now it's my turn to ask
I have an Evo IV that has the following mods:-

Evo VI Engine
Uprated Fuel Pump
3" Exhaust inc De-Cat
HKS Filter
Blitz Boost Controller
Injectors & Airflow Meter from a VI

I am looking to have the head gasket done as it has failed so while it's being stripped thought I would go for some 8MR cams with a 71 Series Turbo. So if I go with this option what potential BHP / Torque will I expect to achieve?

I am running a VI ecu that has been geekmapped by Andy F and will be having a remap if I decide to go with the upgrades on the cams & turbo.

Run 1.6 peak - holding 1.4 at the moment. Looking at 1.8 peak - holding 1.6

Yeh I'm hoping it'll be a nice power delivery, and should make a reasonable road car..........not that it's not been a good car for the past 7 years but I just thought it would make sense to mod it a bit while it's in pieces

Thats the way. I never replace bits with standard, always upgrade where possible.

I'd forget the 71 series. They seem to struggle to get proper power. Go for the 80series much better at making power and holding it

Fair comment Lee but the difference in price is quite a lot and I think I'll see a good enough benefit over my VI turbo..do you agree?

You'll see a benefit, but don't expect miracles. It will be slightly laggier too as the MIVEC helps on the IX achieve an early spool

Thanks for that info mate........most I have spoken to have said 71's are spool monsters and a good upgrade but not as good as the 80 series that's for sure, but the cost is quite a big difference.

The MR cams weren't my idea TBH it was an option given to me by the tuner it's going too mate.
