mod update evo 4 rs steering rack :O)

hi guys

just a quick update had a rs steering rack turn up for my e4 gsr today :O)

dont know how much differens it will make to the way the car drives as its 2.2 turns lock to lock compaired to the 2.4 turns of the standard gsr rack thats in mine ??

but all being good it should be on by next week so we will see :O)

I'd imagine the lock or shall we say turning circle would be the same just less turns of the actual wheel.
I reckon it will take less steering input to make the same turn. Or if you like, a sharper turn can be made without having to turn the wheel so much.

Tommi racks are the same 2.2 as are later evos

hi guys

well i finaly got my rs rack in today :O)

just havnt had the time to fit it but had to make time to fix my clutch so decided to pop the rack in at the same time .

glad i did with the box out as what looks like a easy swap could be a little tricky with the box / lower support / exhaust in the way .

all went well and the only thinks to remember is to undo the steering colume from the rack before you lift the car on a 2 post ramp ... doh ...

and line the rack with the colume befor you bolt it all back up .


i centeralised the rack before i started to make life easier and also swapped my inner and outer track rods over from my old rack as they where replaced not long ago :O)




this swap is defo worth doing as the differance in the 2 racks is instantly noticeable you wouldnt think going from 2.4 to 2.2 turns lock to lock would feel as good and give the car a even more gocart feel :O) but it does ...


just got to sort the tracking now and check the fluid level over the next day or 2 and the jobs a gooden :O)

the car will feel so much tighter on the road once you have changed them ;O)
