i have emailed this fleebay seller and requested some info / specs / or a link to the makers web site and they say they are gonna get back to me .........

i asked the question about putting a later manifold on my 4, a short while back in tech section and the replys i got back was the standard one is good for 500bhp so leave it be,

but that was with standard throttle body,
i am interested to what the results are with ur request to the seller, rich

to answer a earlier question are all evo manifolds the same size

i have had a ask about and posted a thread , had some replys back about the size of the evo 4 - 9 manifold

we have measured a e4 / a e7 and a e9 manifold and they are all overall size of 70mm out side diameter with a 60 mm bore so there is no benifits to fitting a later manifold to my e4 based on size alone :O)

That's what I thought :)




had a lot of people say i think they are the same but no proof and i somtimes like to see thinks for my self when others are not sure :O)

was good of the others to get the tape measures out and let me know there results

i did also email map the guys that mod the standard manifold in the usa and ask his advice as to the best way to go about this as they also offer a 70mm tb conversion .

still waiting on a reply




i also emailed s90 to ask the best way to fit these as they offer them as a direct replacment , no reply as yet ???



so for now i am going to follow your lead and fit as the other have befor , weld up and flow in :O)

for now that is ;O)

As far as im aware the manifolds are basically the same Sir. We weld an extra part on the stock manifold flange to make best use of the S90's extra size.

From all the manifolds I have had come through the shop, they all look to be the same internal diameter. So I don't think switching from your EVO 4 is going to have any advantages.

We weld and port the throttle body flange to match the 70mm throttle body and taper it into the intake manifold. The plenum might have an "internal bore" of around 60mm but that really doesn't make a difference or actually have any effect on anything because you can't take into account the runners and how it effects volume and flow. When we port the intake manifold we also port the plenum as well and it will open it up another 2-3mm's depending on if you go Rev 2 or Rev 3.

Our throttle body is best for the OEM(original) Evo intake manifold. The purpose we made our TB is easy to install(plug and play) so the standard intake manifold will fit well.

For the bigger diameter, we can consider to provide it in future but the main point is users will need to change the intake manifold so there would be kinda complicated with the installment.

yes mate spot on :)


really there is no wrong or right way but thats seem the way these are being

fitted although even s90 say just bolt it on with no mention of porting out or

welding the inlet this info would have helped alot , with only the view to just change the manifold in the

future????

as though bolting to the standard manifold is a stop gap towards a race jobby a comprimise really .....




" map" do port and flow the manifold out and open up the runner to get the

most from the standard manifold increasing the volume of the plenum

chamber which i think is needed and there results are proven .



these are designed to fit the standard manifold but not idealy suited to it

imho a 65mm throttle body would probably work as well on the standard

manifold .

im glad i looked it to this and asked the question as i would have been gutted to mod a evo 4 manifold if a later one was bigger and better suited and this info should help others in the future :O)


ive dropped mine off with my mate to have welded and will defo be looking at different manifold in the near future , if one comes up cheap that is

hi did you manage to find out any info on these manifold " have a couple of people on the evo forum very interested in these with high power evo's .

would be good to know if the

standard throttle body will fit ?

will a 70mm throttle body fit / standard bolt pattern ?

any flow date / befor and after power curves or a link to a site where it can be viewed .

i did read a thread on mlr regarding a test done on various inlets by i yhink burscher racing in america and the standard manifold come out on top. when the others were fited the result was a drop in power :)

mine is back from the powder coaters now and will be sticking to it as it is :):)

this kinder sums up what we have found out


Buschur Racing's ported intake manifold service is recommended for use along with our 65mm throttle body conversion but can be purchased seperately.

This intake manifold is hand ported to match the new 65mm throttle body and head ports.A core is not provided. This process is done on an exchange policy only. If you do not have a core or can not have the down time you can pay the core fee for a manifold to be sent to you. Please call us if you need this done.

Ported stock intake/65 mm throttle body. On a mild application these have proven good for 15 whp over stock. I do not have any current back to back dyno sheets to give an RPM range where the gains start/stop. The biggest improvement is in a smoothing of the overall curve and an increase in the entire basic range.

Through extensive dyno testing we've found that there is NO aftermarket intake produced, including our own, that will produce more power under 5500 rpm than the Buschur Racing Ported intake manifold. This is the best choice for anyone making under 550 whp on our dyno or up to 600 whp on a Dynojet. AWD Motorsports has joined the elite 8 second club with their '06 EVO, running 8.99 at 159.8 mph using the Buschur Racing ported stock intake manifold and Buschur Racing 65 mm throttle body.


i have to wonder that if mitsubushi had fitted a bigger manifold as standard would a tuner have ever fitted a smaller one and found it made more power ???.

hi all just a quick update :O)

its on it works and all is good :O)

i left the idle screw wound in and the car started and runs find. running power fc ecu with map sensor

the car has a lot more torque off boost and comes alive when the turbo spools which seems a good 5oo rpms earlier with a good throttle responce and feel :O)



this mod was defo worth doing :O)


just a couple of thing to remember if trying to fit one on your evo 4

the 2 screws 5mm that hold the tps on dont fit and new 4mm screws are needed .

a tee peice is needed to connect the rubber tube that went to the top of the throttle body to the manifold as the port is missing on the new throttle body .

and if using a after market fuel rail the the domed nut on the throttle spindle will need to be replaced with a standard nut as it will touch .

and when fitting the tps you will need a ohms meter to fit it properly , or can be set using the sensor check on a power fc hand set if fitted :O)

the throttle stop is set at the factory but you just need to make sure that the butterfly is free to move off its stop with no snagging .

and i have left the water pipes connected for now as they seam to control a metal coil that moves a coke flap in the icv .

i have had the standard e4 manifold welded around the flange and have tapered the port from 70mm back in to meet the inside of the manifold , with a 80 grit flapper wheel on a drill , and finished with a dremel .

i didnt plan on painting or smoothing the manifold but i got carried away as i didnt like the bling look of the polished tb .

i already have 70mm hard pipe to the manifold but it steps down to around 65mm on the bends just befor the intercooler 3" out let so i think i will be running 70mm or even 3" all the way down in the near future befor i get it checked on the rolling road .

Good write up there :)

I had to open my idle screw as it wouldn't tick over at all.

I know what your saying about the domed nut. I'm running standard fuel rail but still had to tweak the thin part of the metal fitting on the end of the fuel line.

I had no previsions for water pipes on tb as I have a later 7/8/9 one so just removed 1 of the pipes then looped the other one round to the open outlet to complete the circuit

And yea my hardpipe also stepped down to about 60-65mm hence why I had it remade in 3" :)
