All these colour magic things are a load of tosh don't bother

Order of cleaning

1 Clean and decontaminate IE wash and clay, Iron x, tardis etc.

2 Polish by use of machine to remove defcts swirls etc or use a product called dodo lime prime to hide defects

3 Protect IE Wax or seal using a quality wax or sealent

Edit to say I would go the megs route

my personal full clean/polish would be..

Thorough clean followed by a clay bar session
dodo juice lime prime (hides most little defects)
I also put a layer of Autoglym SRP on as well though it is not necessary
Dodo juice diamond white sealing wax (i also layer this, at one point I got as many as 10 layers of wax on the car)

the Meg 3 step is quite a decent product though i would change out the wax to the meguiars gold class wax

I'll be honest I'm useless at cleaning cars so I take it to my mate who is a velet and he does a real job for me and I go and chat to my old work pals in the showroom while I wait

Clay bars and polish etc is available from most local car parts suppliers. For clay you need a clay lubricant and soft clay bar on the evo to pull the ingrained tar and sh*t out of the paint, it can be a slow and meticulous process but the end result usually makes up for it. Follow the clay with a product like dodo juice lime prime or your meguairs step 1 paint cleaner. Next up comes the polish (meguairs step 2) apply with 1 cloth, remove with another buff up with a third (SOFT MICROFIBRE!). Once done you will want to seal the paint and all your hard work with a wax (meg step 3 or meg gold class),I prefer to use a wax that can be layered for extra protection like the gold class or the dodo juice. You can apply as many layers as you see fit and it all provides a nice shine and protect to your paint.

After all this you just need to wash and wax regularly throughout the year. I only did a full clay and polish twice last year just by maintaining the wash and wax layers.

Lime prime isn't a polish as it contains no abrasives;) It can be used as a cleanser but the main purpose of it is to hide light defects ie holograms from washing the car etc.

Polish is abrasive and is applied before waxing Geof ;) appled by machine or hand but more effective by machine:)

The Lime prime i have in my possesion contains abrasives and is described as a polish and pre wax cleanser ;)
