Hi zemaxs,
Welcome to our Forum and thank you for your input buddy!!!
There is no issue with that statement you have made as in my original comments I have stated:
"As far as the Skyline is concerned it is the hands down winner on potential and still holds the 1/4 mile record over the Ebo and the STi........"

The point of this thread is to get replies back from Evo owners to understand the reason why they have the car and what it costs on average to keep it running as sweet as possible.

Do you have an Evo???

Can you please take a couple of minutes to reply to my thread entitled:
Calling all Evo Owners!!!!

Also, if you get a moment then lease submit a newbie thread so that we can all welcome you to our little Forum.

Speak to you soon buddy.

El

OWN evo 10. since dec 09.
Still not in love with it, something missing. I am tinkering though.lol
Paint work is an issue, Its crap to be honest, plus defo needs mud flaps
stone chips a mare.I also find the front end skitish but that could be me.
On the up side fast and handles awesome, looks understated and its fast.lol
I did buy an sst in oct 09 which lasted 400miles, 2nd 4th 6th gears where
like you had kangaroo juice in it, the car needed a new gear box, so I gave it
back and got a manual. I will scare all sst owners when I list the price of a
gearbox for an sst , a whole 10k , plus around 3k to fit lol mental.
Sorry sst owners.

Hi mate, what wax ,polish etc did you buy,I had some project awesome applied
by a top detailer, it is expensive but is awesome, think you would need to come
to sunny scotland to have it applied, or i think the guy would travel, at extra cost.
I am just about to buy some zymol royale ,just trying to pluck up courage it is very expensive.lol just over 2k i think, with life time refil .As far as having a detail, this guy
was the best i have ever seen. If you want his details I am sure he will give you advice
and really good products,Just replied because i spotted your wax post, which means
you keep your car spot on.Like me. Its got to be washed after every trip.lol ocd on steroids lol

*Evo owned ... Evo 6 RSII currently, previously had another E6 RSII, an E6 GSR and an E5 GSR, oh and also currently own an E1 RS.

*Duration of ownership ... Current E6 RSII nearly 3 yr's

*I rate my Evo because........... it's the longest i've ever owned a car (had 37 in 12 yr's inc. 2x Skyline GTR's and 2x Scooby's) and no matter what crap it gives me, I just can't seem to giveup on it no matter how hard I try, I guess it's like a drug, only worse because it costs more.

*problems ..... Lots several turbo failiures that each time destroyed the engines (1 full of turbo debris ontop of the pistons, the other contaminated the oil and caused bearing damage).

*cost to cure .... LOTS

new evo x

Hi all.
Had an evo x for 4months, the first thing I would say is the paintwork
Is shocking, Cost to sort £300 plus maretials, so somewhere about £400ISH.LOL. Then I would say its now become too refined, doesnt look like a
beast of a car anymore, that might be a good thing. We also own a new
world series megane coupe, which everyone asks about, but no one asks
about the evo .I think any one who buys one will want to do mods asap.
I cant put my finger on it but theres defo something missing. I think its
a better engine noise, or exhaust noise, so am trying a few things.
I am starting to like it more, it didnt excite me too much to begin with,
added a blitz cone which sounds awesome.
I Have driven a new gtr, thought about buying one which had the stage
2 upgrade, the guy reckoned 640ish bhp, but i was put off firstly by the power, then the service costs, and 2k for tyres ,this was the final nail really.
Yes it was stunninng but way over the top. So glad i picked the evo.
I think when I do spend gtr money it will be on a lambo, or a gt3 rs .
I will keep the evo for a bit get a remap etc see what happens, but its not
one of those car i see my self having for years. I am 40 this year and the
midlife crisis is shoutin lambo, got until november, just trying to raise some
cash. The rececion is making it tricky.I would rate my evo at around 6/10
If i was writing a scool report it would say, good car, lacking imagination,
sack the painters, could do better. Will stick pics up later, the blitz kit is huge.
Sorry for the sunday ramble, just going to wash the evo munky and go for a
spin. Will no doubt get hassle from the type r clan, I Dont even go there now
a waste of fuel, although extremly funny.

*Evo owned....evo5 dandylion yellow,

*Duration of ownership.....1 year

*I rate my Evo because...........iv had many japs cars before including the nissan skyline gts which was running at 651bhp (if in boubt ask pj motor sports in wolverhampton) the skyline has a lot off power but what good is all that power when you cant whip it around corners and cant drive it if its wet,?in my area we do alot off street racing and the evo handling and torque is amaizing.if i do sell me evo 5 ill buy another 5 or 6,

*problems..needed to change the brakes system,,ebc grooved discs front and back and yellow stuff pads and braided housing,

*cost to cure..£500 all in..its not what you know its who u know..lmao.

£180 for a dyno and tune is a good price but only if the tuner knows what he is talking about and doing.

PJ has put his price up to match POWER STATION as they are his closest competitors, I would not say closest rivals because unlike him, they actually know the front end of a car from the back end LOL!!!

evo 6 and evo 8

Not many problems with the 6 just general wear and tear but saying that I used to drive it like a woman because I was afraid of anything going wrong onit, my mate later smaseh it when he bought it off me after a couple of months in his hands.

Bought an evo 8 saying it was around 340 bhp, but never got it on the rollers, was an import and did pull away on my mates fq300, bought it from keighley permormance centre and never give me any problems either except brakes which I had to replace at a cost of £500 but thats just wear and tear, that was them smashed into a wall the day before my wedding, couldnt handle it truth be told tried doing some mental speed round a sharpish bend not realizing the bend was carrying on and on luckily nobody was hurt had 2 mates in with me, overall evo great car had loads of problems with subaru miss firing, turbo cutting out spark plugs need changing every other weekend, nitemare cars, engine seizing. My mate then bought the evo 8 off me for £5000 needed about £4000 spending to repair been over a year and he still doesnt have it on the road, so just aswell I cashed in when I could.

*Evo owned Evo 4 RS

*Duration of ownership 2 weeks

*I rate my Evo because........... Sheer acceleration, raw terror inducing slides if you give it too much power out of corners (No AYC),real drivers car has NO driving aids at all, and the fact that i went to the garage tonight to get some munchies and as i walked in some lad walked out and saw my evo grumbling away on turbo timer "wooow oohh wow" think he nearly creamed himself made me laugh

*problems Brakes are a bit lacking, so will have to upgrade them, bit worried about the short ratio box working the engine so hard and hear the 4 engine is a bit weak, so will have to get a spare motor on stand by lol

*cost to cure dunno yet, but 14mpg isnt helping :D

Evo owned Evo iv

Only had this for 4 weeks

I bought this car with some heavy mods on it and can't complain it's like #### of a shovel and puts a smile on your face . Have had other fast cars like a Honda prelude 2.2vti 4 wheel steering version which kicked ass and have driven a few super cars but none have been as much fun as the evo. My friend has a wrx and told me that scoobys are for real drivers, he soon changed his mind when I went passed him side ways at 80 round a bend on the a702 .anyway skylines are very nice and have loads of power but can't put it down like an evo great for drifting but not so good for high speed cornering .

As far as problems the only one is melting through the splash guards but all that is required is the front ride height adjusted and a new set fitted.
