I'd let him know you not happy with his behaviour, your issuing him a warning and that next time you with him and he decides to get in the car and drive your friendship is over and you WILL ring the police as soon as he gets behind the wheel.

I would however try and help him remove the temptation but not taking his car to the pub in the first place, Just 'cause its there its easy to take the simple option rather than wait for a lift or a cab

No, I'd wait until he'd driving into some innocent person or family and killed them all and then say "I told you so"

I wouldn't let them go near the car if i knew they had been drinking, it's not worth it but if i didn't know in time then i'd be pissed and probably wouldn't talk to them for a while..

Really speaking, you should 'stick him in', sometimes it can be difficult to do when its your mate though, however, as people have said, what if....he did hit another car and killed someone, lost control and killed a pedestrian, or himself.

Give him the lecture, if he ignores it and attempts to get into his car, call the police.

Been in the situation before, a friend drunk at our rugby club tried to get into his car and drive off, managed to get him out of the car before it moved and took his keys from him till the next day (with a little bit of force). Think one of the guys told him if he tried it again, he would be out for the rest of the season, due to injury lol
