well i thought i start this thread after my very lucky escape on Saturday see how many have had lucky escapes or not in some case,s travelling down a road in Manchester that i know very well near my home i was just coming to a sharp bend with a camera 40- 50 yards after the bend the road was wet (wetter than i thought)i touched my brakes slowing down for corner and upcoming camera next thing the car back end started to flip out so tried to correct it then it went the other way so as now heading to on coming traffic tried again to get under control now i going almost backwards at the side of the road is trees lamp post camera and a gap in between two trees about 1ft wider than my evo with a small grass verge that's where i come to a stand still no one hurt just the plastic undercarriage came off the car and bumper a little damaged not hardly noticeably to naked eye drives just the same it,s due a service and i had already ordered some new suspension to put on which soon as that comes will be taking the car to EL where he can do a proper check i have not put any speeds as we don't no who reads these but i really wasn't going that fast but there is a lot of trucks come out of the brick yard with mud on there tyres so there could be mud on road or could just be bad driving

Glad you and the motor are ok.
Ive had a few close shaves in the CTR (they are very twitchy in the wet).
You certainly have to be careful after a warm dry spell, the amount of diesel which builds up and becomes an oil slick when it rains is scary.

No close shaves for me to report buddy as I am a drifter!!!

For future reference, when the back end does go out on you, you should steer into it and accelerate (if you are turning right and the back end swings out, keep steering right and floor it),or just let go of the accelerator and then bring the car back in once the power drops. Never try to correct the steering by opposite lock unless you want to go in the same direction that the rear end is going in.

Never slam on the brakes because that will make your car go in a straight line into the ditch, if there is one, it may well be a brick wall or a river, you get the picture!!!!

These days, when you mention to the police that you lost control, they just put it down to reckless driving and invite you to attend Court, if other cars are involved then you could end up banned from driving

Your damn right you had a lucky escape Gary. From what your telling me, you got away by the skin of your teeth.

In such cases it does not matter if the car comes away in one piece, as long as the driver is OK as repairs can follow later on.

I am sure many members have had lucky escapes in the past and I look forward to reading what is put down here.

thanks for for fixing the title nick now i just need el to fix the car suspension should be here buy end of week el and i think a of couple of driving lessons might not go a miss and i was a drifter until i stopped on the grass verge

i nearly ended up on a round a bout when i first got the evo,i was only doing about 50 in a 60 zone,just having a steady drive home from work,the road was a little damp but nothing to worry about(or so i thought),so i started braking for the round a bout and nothing happened,it was as if my brakes had been cut,it was a reasonably straight road so the hand brake was wipped on and i started going down through the gears,but by this time i was virtualy at the round a bout,then i notice someone had pulling out,i droped the hand brake and in to third and floored it,they must have missed my back end by inches and all i could hear was the horn,i felt bad but i had no choice,there was no way id stop in time and i couldnt steer onto the grass.

well as for me i always push mine to the max.
bends i love & not a problem. just twiggle with them.
many times the car not stopped on me as we all know the brakes stick when hot.
missed many cars by not going in the back ov em'
so far no hits & going good but the brakes need upgrading for sure lol
