Went to the gym this morning as I do most days. As I was at the lights turning right into the street the gym is on a police car was coming out and turning left. I carried in and pulled into the gym car park then was followed in by the same police car. I found a place and reverse in with the police watching me, then the blue lights came on. I got out and got my gym bag then they came over to me.

They "pulled me over" because of my number plate.

PC: is that plate legal
Me: you tell me.
PC: no its not it needs to be the same as your rear one but white.
Me: ok
PC: it's a £60 fine, I'm not going to fine you though but I'm advising you to change it
Me: ok will do at some point.
PC: and do you know how dark your rear tints should be
Me: there's no limit is there?
PC: they should allow 70% light in but I don't have a tester now so I can't check.
Me: ok, can I go to the gym now.

We then departed company.... I'm not the sort to bitch about police etc but at least get the facts right if your going to talk to someone.

Didn't check my details or anything either.
Think they must of been bored.

I know that and you know that. Im not fussed about the plate situation because I expected to get a tug for it at some point. Don't see why they have to cross examine your car then tell you things are wrong when they don't know the facts themselves.

Rear windows it's doesn't matter, as long as 90' left to right and front screen u can see out of its fine u can have rears totally black so u cant see out or in if u really like, as for number plates there is no actual law as of the front plates as long as there is one visible, mot they can b funny but RTA there is no legislation on size of front plates for jap imports or most cars in tge uk lol
I've even had the fun of going court about it :)

There is a law aboit front plates. And they are now part of the mot. They have to have a british standards number on, and postcode of the place that made them. If they dont have that then technically they can fail the mot regardless of size and font. You will only get a bs number on legal size plates. Imports can have slightly smaller plates (cant remember the sizes off the top of my head) but only if they are not type approved and dont have a location for a full size plate.

I've read many threads about import plates.... From what I understand I can't get away with that argument with a 9.
