Hi guys just brought a E5 ecu and injectors for my E4 now i have read different stories wire this here cut this there so what is the truth lol. Injectors are straight forward i also notice a obd plug under the steering wheel is it standard and do i need to wire any of the ecu wires to it?Do i need to remap the car when i put the new ecu in or will it be ok on the 5 map?It will be remapped eventually but if i can run for now will be great.
Also i have been offered the 5 engine for 850 i heard it running today and it all good with no leaks is this a good price?thanks for your help in advance dave

the 5 ecu is a direct plug and play replacement no need to swap any wires, you only need to swap wires on the 7+ ecu's although you will have to wire in one extra cable (can't remember the pin off hand) so that you can reflash it

850 isn't a bad price for an engine how many miles has it done?

the 5 map should be ok but would defo get it checked out first before booting it

Thanks for the reply yeah I gotta add a wire to pin 79, the engine has done 77000 miles but I will strip and replace bearings rings etc so it will live out the car. On the remap side the ecu is standard never been played with so will it be ok? Cheers Dave

the ecu should be fine then
the engine isn't a bad price for a complete lump, especially if your rebuilding anyway

congrates :) yeah sounds like the base idle screw may need adjusting, although you might just need to let the ecu learn the new values by letting it idle for about 10mins
