jap import what are the pitfalls?

hi folks looking to buy a tme jap import 66k v reg with np previous history from japan but loads when imported to uk can anyone tell me what i need to look out for cheers

Am I right in assuming you're not importing it but that it has been in the UK for a few years? I'd check for rust, but before anything I'd check it is actually a TME. The VIN will start 020 if it is a TME.

That's very typical of a jap import, some like mine have jap history but it's all in Japanese!

As Aidy said if that's the scenario check for RUST and you need to know where to look etc beware of freshly under sealed cars as it's sometimes used to cover up bad areas.

Loads of threads kicking about as regards to rust so give it a google search and get clued up before buying.
