is this model correct?

hi folks,i am lookin 2 buy an evo iv,i was lookin at 1 on autotrader, it was listed under MITSUBISHI LANCER EVOLUTION IV FQ260, its an R reg 1998, i have searched for this model on internet but not getting any results, thought i would ask the boys that know,i have been a nissan man myself,but the pulsars are not big enough for the 2 kids, so me and the mrs have came to a compromise......
i just want some info on this,as the car is in manchester, i am in ayrshire,dont fancy driving down if its not the car thats advertised.
i am greatful for any help you boys can give. thanx.

Maybe it has had a later engine fitted from an FQ260, not uncommon and something that is happening quite regularly now.

Have you called the seller and asked him why he has listed it as such???

no m8,we called and asked certain details but not that,, i was looking at the evos 2day and noticed that a few sites say the evo v was first registered in jan 1998,so i wondered why an evo iv was listed as 1998,then i checked for the evo iv fq model and didnt get any joy,i thought the evo iv was iether lightwieght rs or the gsr model.

1998 means it could of just been imported later than the others, i think?
the iv engines can have probs, so people tend to replace them with later engines as the 5-8 will all fitt. so maybe he has dropped an viii engine in as that is the only model that has a 260mr factory fitted to my knowledge...
ring the guy and ask him. imo if it has had an engine swap to an viii that is a good thing

when we called him it was to ask about tax/mot, i never really noticed the fq260 thing until 2day when i was looking at all the evo models. i have emailed the guy to see if he can confirm.

I would leave it alone completely and fish for something else.

Even if it is listed as having a later engine, the only way to confirm it would be to physically go and view the car and have a look at the engine code/number which is a bit of a task in itself.

Go for a V if your budget allows as it is a far better car.
