Is my turbo gone?

Hi guys

I have an evo 6 GSR & recently experienced fuel cut at the end of some relatively hard driving, I've had all piping checked & all is fine, I was told it was most likely the actuator (despite me fitting a new one in march) so new actuator was purchased & now low & behold the actuators fine, what I'm now being told that the turbo is not producing enough pressure to open up the actuator properly, despite no blue smoke or oil leak from the turbo, does this sound right?

I will be getting a second opinion shortly, but was just wandering if anyone else has had the same problem, as I'm now sitting here scratching my head!

hi have you got a boost gauge fitted ??

have you checked for boost leaks , as i believe the afm controls fuel cut and a boost leak might still show eg, 1.2 bar on the gauge but be pulling in enough air for say 1.8 ??

standard map or tunned ???

the more info the better :O)

...

Hi mate thanks for the reply, yeah no boost gauge or boost controller fitted, only mods are turbo back exhaust, a greddy nov which has been on there for ages & apexi induction.

It has been drinking extra fuel lately which I've just put down to the service being due, somebody's told me to get the fueling checked, could this be linked?

ideally get a boost gauge fitted (even if temporary) to see what boost your hitting.

if your car is running the standard map then its probably just a combination of decat exhaust and induction kit pushing you close to fuel cut limit.

does it only do it in the higher gears?

ps try to avoid hitting fuel too often until its remapped.

Thanks for that mate, yeah its not fuel cutting all the time, my mechanic took it out today & it was fine all the way through the revs, definately something not right, maybe I just need a good remap then!

I might be wrong but it won't duel cut all the time it depends on air temp. Mine was fine until the temp dropped

if your hitting loads that are close to the fuel cut setting then yeah it can be random depending on air temp.

if your running too much boost or hitting really high loads due to the intake etc then you will hit the fuel cut all the time regardless of airtemp.
