Is evo an import or not???

Hi Guys,

need some advice, recently got my evo 6 gsr, w reg
added it to insurance couple of days later i checked the MID to make sure it was showing as insured and it was showing that it was a Evo 10 FQ
i called mt insurance earlier and changed the model over
now they want an extra £350 odd, when i asked why they tolds me its because my car is an import

i was under the impression that evo 6 and onward were imported by rallyart and were officially UK cars.....how can i tell, as i would much rather spend the £350 buying a tracker...

any help would be greatly appreciated

Yes they are all imports and ralliart did tweak certain models for the uk market only but or example my insurance shows mine as an import and it's the fq which is uk only, I would say have a look at another insurance company try pace ward

Evo 6's were the first Evo to be officially sold on the uk market, 5's and below are all imports.

A few things off the top of my head you can check

Do you have an owners manual with the car? English or jap?

Are there stickers on the sun visors in English? If so its likely a uk model

Is the rear fog light set into the bumper? Again a sign its a uk model, imports normally have it under the bumper

I think the rear fog light switch on the uk models is on the same switch as the front fogs aswell.
