Intercooler pump

I washed the car today and dried it then parked it up in the garage and cleaned the interior as I was doing this I knocked the wipers on and they would not turn off so I switched the car off and carried on cleaning...then I turned the car on again to move it and the intercooler pump is whiring and has emptied out all the water all over the floor under the car.

Even when the car is off it is still whirring away???

So I started checking fuses on pulling out the Engine fuse (number 14 I think) cant check now as dark will check tommorow its a 20 amp fuse, the pump stops whirring but the car stalls without fuse.So have taken out fuse and switched off car is there another fuse box somewhere in the car or anyone know what this problem is and how I can cure it ?

Ive been told the weave ECU could of got wet as I did use my new xmas pressie arch cleaner after driving to essex twice over christmas car was mingin, mate and salt and s*ite in arches thought it needed it :whistling:


Didnt clean the bay though ??

have you pulled the pass side kick plate off and had a look behind there for any wet/dodgy connections?

Sorry for late post but its all fixed.....


After pulling cowling from passenger side and unplugging top left iso connector the bottom of the plug was a little green and gungey so I wd40'd the life out of it and scrubbed down the connectors with some wet and dry and a small suede brush (from xmas presents) I knew it would come in handy LOL .

The fuse was put back in and voila no pump screaming away !! I then tried to start the car it would turn over but wouldnt start ......


I then checked the iso block again and on cleaning another corroded wire had come broken off just inside connector !!! I assumed it was fuel pump.

I bridged the wire from back of connector to wire going into front of connector and she fired up lovely !!

I know its a temp fix but I will get it done when I come back from Las Vegas as I leave on the 3rd of Jan so cant really get anywhere to do it till then.

glad you found the issue mate,

make sure you sort/check all the connections there and make sure the fuel pump connection is spot on when you've sorted it as that could be very detrimental to the engine with a intermittent connection there.

Will do mate the fix now is better than the original a big black thick wire cridged in !! LOL I will resolder all the wires when I get home sponners.

No probs Lee nor would I if it werent for quizzing people on here and other sites.

Apparentley its a common thing on 8s and 9s and Id reccomend people check them as its easy to do but a nightmare to fix !!!
