right just thought i would let evry1 no i found a really good site for insurance!

originally i was qouted £1400 tpft for my 92 evo import then i went to tiger.co.uk and unbelievably got comprehensive insurance for £790 couldnt believe my luck so give it a go, hope this websites helps more people save money

i no the misses never let me insure it for £1400 lol

Glad you got a good deal. Please read their terms and conditions fully as there are a lot of new Chinese under writers floating about and they have silly clauses to ensure they don't have to pay out. This might not be one of them but the name Tiger is a little suspect to me.

Any how, as I said make sure you read the full terms and conditions when they arrive and clarify your excess's etc.

right thought id follow your advise and do some investigating into it all and turns out that even when you confirm the right details and that it is a jap import that the companies qouting dont see this!!

for example my car was imported in 2003 (its a 1992 evo I) when i go on normal websites the registration comes up as a 2.0l galant and is the same for all the qoutes i got off tiger.co.uk

conclusion
if it looks to good to be true it always bloody well is!!!

I think that when the car came over to the uk, it was accidentally on purpose registered as a galant to get a cheaper premium.

You have 2 options here:
either you insure through direct line, depending on age and no claims it will cost you £900 odd pounds fully comp and you can tell them that its an evo and that they need manually make a change and and ensure that it is on the certificate which it will be when it arrives.
OR
You can drive the car down to your local DVLA office with the current full V5 and make the changes that are on the V5 section 7 and get the tax from them at the same time.

If you are not insured then ask a mate that is a trader to help you out.

i did nt go ahead with buying as was not sure what to do i dont want to pay for insurance that would not be valid for my vehicle, i did think about tryin to get print screen copies of the qoutes and then takin the insurance on the vehicle then when the certificate came if it sed galant ring them up and do some solicitor threatening and see where i got,

any advice for me, well confused on the situation if u can give me email i can send pics of print screens

the v5 says the car is a lancer evo I 2000cc im confused why companies thinks it a galant or they tell me its only 1834cc????

it was imported 2003
tax expired 2008 along with mot (hence paid £250 for car) *BARGAIN*
i have old v5 waitin for new 1

nope no old tax discs got all old mot certificates since registered in uk and some paper work that says had brake pipes done er toad alarm vsib and loads of stereo booklets for the overly flashy ipod head unit

Whwn you applied for the new log book you should have filled section 7 to notify that the car is not a galant. Check your chassis number with the log book VIN to see if they match. If they do then the car is ok. You will not have to go outside to verify!!

Try the directline method in the morning to see if you can get covered.

yea they are the same the mileage looks good since bieng in uk the vehicle has gone from 57000km to 94000km

Ok, the problem is that the car was registered at time of import as a galant but then an owner down the line made the change with DVLA but the MID does not list it for some reason.

Call direct line in the morning and get insurance through them, all they will want to see is a copy of the toad certificate.

Just make sure that they register it on the data base as a lancer, they have to do it manually and they have the 2.0l GSR turbo listed in their options so they can do it with no problems.
If you know some-one who is already insured through directline then you can tie in cover with that person, it does not affect their cover or no claims at all. Just makes your premium 30% cheaper.
