Insurance question

Purely hypothetical ;)
If your current insurance was to run out in the middle of next month (lets say 15/06/11) but you were looking to change car or perhaps get a van. But could do with it from the first week, say 3/6/11.
But also could do with that years no claims on the van insurance.
What would be the best way to go about this?
If I were to buy insurance saying x years NCD (which would be available on the 15th) would they accept that?
Whats the way to go about this?
Purely hypothetically speaking...

i had a similar situation when getting the evo. in the end i just paid for a weeks insurance with another company and lumped the price for a week until i got the extra year which made a big difference.

So did you buy policy with x years, pay full cost then add extra years in a week later and get a refund?

i would set up the insurance and when the current policy expires and your ncb are free to use, transfer them to the new motor. its what i did with the evo, had to pay an extra month on my type r
