Agreed!

Although it is slightly smaller, it will not have an adverse affect at all.

hi guys

i like the sound of whats bee stated on this thread as

i am looking for the best standard manifold to use for a s90 70mm throttle body mod

can any one you confirm that the later manifold have a bigger body / chamber and could be better suited to the conversion than the e4 manifold which seem to be a tat on the small side .

the outside diameter of the e4 manifold is only just 69.5mm od and the s90 is 70mm id :O(

http://www.evoowners.co.uk/4/mod-update-e4-s90-throttle-body-6855-4.html#axzz1j3W7wUfb

any help or measurments added would be a great help .

cheers paul

As far as I'm aware and I also asked on mlr and most seem the say that all Mitsi manifolds are the same diameter.
Also spoke with my mate who has many years experiance in race engines and port Ian's polish etc and mentioned to him what you said about the bore of the mani to be the same diameter 70mm right the way through its length and he said no not essential as by the time the air has passed into the first inlet port then there is then 25% less air so no the bore size does not need to be 70mm right the way through.
I also noticed with some after market ones that they taper to a smaller size by the time they get to the last port anyway so just enlarging the tb port to 70mm is sufficient.

Also the 70mm hole should not be flat or square. It's should be tempered so as to encourage a ventury effect :)

ok that seam to make sence .

if i didnt ask then i would never learn :O)

i just wonderd why mits made the standard one 60mm all the way thro using the little walls but just made the runners different lengths when viewing the manifold up side down ??

dont most after market manifolds have equal length runners and volosity stacks so can have a taperd plenum ???
