clean the throttle body, then do the idle reset, disconect battery for a short time, reconnect, leave tickin over for 10 mins, then put lights aircon etc on leave for another 10 mins, that might help,
or check for air leak

Or has the battery died and you've had to recharge it?

This would meen the base idle would need reseting. If not then the idle valve is possibly stuck and needs cleaning or replacing.
It could also meen you have an air leak somewhere. Best to try and get the base idle reset 1st
1.Disconnect battery for few minutes
2.Start car with no electrics on at all, NO radio, lights, heated window, climate control, etc
3.Leave it running for 10 min
4.After this time turn on all electrics
5.Leave for further 10 min
6.After all this take car for a drive

This should reset the base idle to 1400rpm on start up and 850rpm when warm
