So I drove my normal 50 miles to work today, no issues and a non eventful trip.

Parked the car and left it in the car park for 7 1/2 hours.

Went to the car tonight unlocked it on the key button. un-immobilised, turned key and nothing... Not a sausage.

Tried again and again but nothing. got out the car tried to lock it. nothing no power at all.

Opened bonnet to look for disconections ie battery. nope all ok.

Got back in and it fired up first attempt.

and then drove off.

First junction i get to it stalls. start up drive off stop in traffic it stalls.

And so it was for the 50 miles home stalling at every junction roundabout or traffic jam.

Got home checked every think nothing loose.

did the old idle reset 10 mins nothing on 10 mins as much switched on as possible.

It now holds idle but when i first start it struggles almost stalling and then picking up.

Any ideas....

Stalling all the way to work today

Paul

Hi Paul,

Im no expert with cars "as you know from some of my previous threads:blush:"

You say you have checked all of the battery connections and earthing straps, could it possible be a fueling issue? Fuel Pump on its way out? Or maybe your idle control valve is knackered??

Sorry i know thats not much help.

May also be that your idle control valve has just packed up. Is it holding at 850-900 rpm when warm on idle and only stalling when you come to a stop?

Not holding any idle even after 50 mile run.

So far I have

Put new battery terminals on,

Checked all earths.

Done an idle reset.

When I got to work this morning I tried another idel reset, so when I drive home tonight I will know if it worked of not.

will try the MAF sensor tonight.

Fuel pump is only a couple of months old Walbro 255.

Will also look at the idle control valve tonight see if it needs cleaning.

Cheers for the suggestions

put a diag machine on it paul and see if any faults listed?
if no faults clean out throttle body and check to see if idle switch working
it does seem strange that you had no power!
did it crank over on starter?
if not check to see if battery shot
if you want could check it out tomorrow if you bring to me?
give us a call 07711523638 Pete

Make sure all electrics are switched of, especially air con.

Start it up and let it idle for 10 mins, mine really struggled at low revs so had to help it with the tiniest amount of throttle eventually it will find an idle ate around 850 rpm.

after 10 mins turn as much electrics on as you can including lights fog lights and four ways

let it idle for a further 10 mins the go for a short drive... reset done.
