why would that be stuarttyres ?

i own one & never had a problem at all, & smokes the 7's & 8's easily.
the closest evo got to me was a 3 gsr.

i understand the crank walk bit & the ecu which cant be mapped but i prefer the looks on a 4 than the blown up 5's & 6's'

u must av seriously modded your car if its blowing away 7 and 8s.like you said theres the crank walk, you cant do shit with the ecus so why not buy a proper car to begin with and save the bother of having to uprate things straight away??i have looked around and these are probably the worst evo for holding their value

mines pretty much standard. its also how you drive them.
i personally prefer the looks on the 4.
you get it cheaper & will give many evos a good run.
mods are easily done & you will still have money left'

just matter of spotting a good mint one tho'

Right people,
The IV is not the one to go for in my opinion too. If you have the cash then go for a V or above. If the budget is constrained then go for a III as it is much better value for money and has more potential. The IV is OK but only just. With the way the prices are on them at the moment, you would be mad to go for one!!!

The issues that were in the Evo I were addressed slightly with the II and the III.

In the IV, Mitsi just addressed the styling and added the AYC but neglected many other changes that would have been of benefit because the attention was spent on the V which was dubbed to be the first rally car to utilise the full WRC specifications to the maximum allowable.

The best value for money model still remains the VI.

It is not nice to call the IV a bag of shite even if that is the case. It just does not sit right with members that have one.

Personally, I would not even have a IV if it was gifted to me unless I was allowed to sell it on right away.

if you like the 4,s so much just have the best of both worlds and buy a 5 then stick all the 4 bits on it !!!!

as said in terms of tuneabilty and out of the box potential the 5 is so much better and worth holding out for mate !!

Evo IV perfect for everyday driving car. cheap and powerful enough. But the best looking ones are V and VI. i think VII and VIII are toned down abit in looks.

Evo IV lacked from day one, decent alloys as standard. F1 Racing ones were gash. 17s' with proper suspenion to suit alloys and Brembos should off been used no arguments there. plus Side skirt could of been wider.

Shame arches wasn't flared either.

Personally i love my ERST more than the Evo IV.

Startin to feel a bit sorry for mr.lancer,ur cars taken a bit of stick in this thread, its all down to personal preferance realy, obviously ur happy with ur e4,it does wot u want it to do,wot more cud u ask for in a car? My personal opinion u cnt beat a 6tme,these r why I love evos, there awsome.the only others I like is the 8+9(obviously I'm biased lol)I'm not sayin I look at all other evos n turn my nose up,but I class likeability by "would I have one myself"

well im really pleased with mine & its not let me down against any 5,6,7 or 8's
overall im sure people would rate the 6 at the highest.

the value is good for the power

depends on how much you want to spend aswell & what you want from it'
if you looking to do mods etc then go for the 6.
you get better bits on it. eg, larger intercooler, brakes.

evo 5-9 brakes are all the same. brembos. 10 is slightly bigger i think?

Evo V spoiler is the best one, VI is over the top slightly. But still good.

Stick with the V best one all round. Damn cheaper too.

V or VI, they are both good.

VI is the best value for money Evo on the market. Something I have told you already.

V looks the business in my opinion though!!!

Its the spoiler on the VI that lets it down. If it was flat like the V but had the centre bit like the IV, then it'll be perfect.
On the other hand VI alloys are better than V alloys.

not a mistake at all, perfectly good car. You cant map the EVO IV wich is a downer. and the arches are not flared. Then theres 16' gash standard alloys and crap brakes, but both can be changed to later spec items if you wish. i Got VI alloys and VII Brembos(V-IX Brembos are all the same)

at the end of the day the Evo IV is the first Evo of the common shape Lancer, so you gotta start somewhere, just look at the Evo I, very dull and not great to look at, Evo III is nice to look at which is the last of the early shape Lancer.
