how can you tell whether a car mileage is correct?

how can you tell whether a car mileage is correct? I just purchased a Ford Explorer 2003 from a reputable dealership. The car had 30k miles on it, the tires were not the original..they are Cooper tires ...this threw up a flag but...any way to tell if the mileage has been tampered with? I know the odometer could be correct by a tool called DP3 Digiprog3 Odometer Correction Tool, If i shoot you the vin, can you autocheck it for me?

History as above.. check wear on foot pedels, gear knob, seats,carpet.. or just post up some detailed photo's and i will take a look..

There is a tool which can tell you, I was at a friends garage he had a 530d BMW in there
Bloody lovely looking he was doing something then going thou the machine then it cam up with mileage, in the car the clocks read 75k and on the machine it reads 175k

The guy only just brought it for 12k
