Hello, looking to buy an 8 or a 9 soon, now just want your thoughts on this, and which one to go for, any common faults to look out for etc,

Go for the IX as it's a slightly stronger car and easier to tune. Neither the VIII or the IX have any real common faults beyond a faulty AYC pump (which runs the LSD on the diffs) which will cost about £500 or so to get fixed using a s/h or reconned pump.
