hks 272's with standard springs?

whats peoples thoughts on this one......iv heard many people saying its ok and had no problems but others say you should change the springs and retainers, anyone running these cams with standard springs? if so how long have they been in, what miles have they covered?

what's the lift on them? i had cosworth m2 cams on my 9 and needed uprated springs and retainers for those.

Couldnt tell you mate... as far as i can see its one of them thats sat on the fence, some say there running them with standard springs and they've been fine but others advise you not to. How is the lift mesured? In mm??

yes mm - M2 are 11mm + 272 deg. originals are something like 9.2 exhaust 10.0 intake.

So hks 272's can have different lift heights? Ill have a look on my dinner. Will it have m2 stamped on the cam? Or will i just have to measure it?

M2 are made by Cosworth - hks 272 will be different.
I was advised with M2 to upgrade springs/retainers to prevent valve float (bought some speedtech)
If the lift is not as big over standard then you'll probably be ok with standard springs.

Does anyone know what the standard duration and lift is for the standard gsr cams?

Just found out the standard cams have a duration of 248, the lift on the intake is 9.8 and exhaust is 9.32.....so the intake has 1mm more lift and the exhaust 0.88mm
