Hi, some advice please.

As you can see i have only just joined this site, main reason being is that I am seriously looking at buying an evo, but i need to know a lot more about them first, and who better to ask than a bunch of people who already own them, so here goes.
I have given myself a budget of around 10K, but this is not set in stone, as with anything I will pay the right price for the right car.
I am used to quick cars, M3's, noble m12, focus rs's, ( please try and refrain from commenting too much, I know you probably think they're are pants, but just a few cars that were on my list ).
Anyway, back to evo's, i need to know basicaly what the differences are between each model, what to look out for, what/which ones to avoid etc etc.
I know it's probably a lot of info, but I have to start somewhere.

obviously the main differences are the looks. you have the 1,2,3 all based around a similar style. the 4,5,6 and again the 7,8,9.
there is no specific model to avoid as with all cars, you look after them properly and service them correctly you usually wont have any problems.

for 10k you could get a decent 8 i rekon. or an awesome tommi mak!! :wub:

Hiya and welcome along my advice choose a model you like the most and go from there cos as youngy said theres so many differences to choose from, can't say I'd avoid any to be honest cos they all have there own pros and cons.

Depends on what model u like the look of most, and power your after, if you want to mod it that sort of stuff really

Say you choose an 8 for instance, then the guys can go into more detail about them for you, so have a look see what you like and ask away

thanx for the welcome, will have a closer look at the different models and decide which one floats my boat, swaying towards the 8 at the moment.
What sort of power can be gained safely from this model, without major surgery.

Whilst i continue to look for the right car, can you guys give me some idea of costs of owning one of these beasts, i know they are quite thirsty, and tend to like the expensive juice in the tank, but what about servicing, how often, and are there different services done at certain times.
Do you guys use specailist garages.

varies on here buddy, quite a lot of people do their own work on the cars, others take them to specialists like indigo gt, mg autos, evotune, or el.....

Thanx for that, so it's every 4.5k miles, what about if you don't do that many miles in a given time, is it then time related.
Also, those prices seem really good, I'm used to servicing costs in the many hundreds, bmw/noble/rr sport, so it will make a change not to give the plastic a hiding every time it goes into a garage.

i believe it does go up every 6 months... ie 4500/6 months 9000/12 months 13500/18 months etc

Welcome mate. For that sort of budget can prob get u an 8mr poss fq300-fq340. Good luck with the hunting. Sometimes it can take a while to find the right one. Make sure it had full service history, also check when cambelt was done and see if balance shaft was done at same time. As long as they have all that and body seems nice and straight then that means u got yourself a good one
