I'm new to the forum and thought i'd say hi.
My name is Chris, 24 and from the north east.
I've been a member of the RSOC for a bit now and have owned RS Turbo's since being 18. I still have a series 2 escort and a fiesta turbo which i intend on keeping but also looking into getting an EVO.

I'm in no hurry what so ever to buy and don't have the cash yet anyways but i'm after a bit of advice on making my choice. I'm looking to spend around 8k but i'm not really sure which model would be best to go for overall for around that kind of money and also what kind of things to look out for. Owning RS turbo's, i kind of have an idea when it comes to buying rotten eggs but you can never get too much advice
I've looked at a couple of EVO 6's i quite like the look of, does anyone recommend any other models or have any opinions on what model to buy.

Thanks for reading:)
Chris.

hi m8 and welcome to the forum the e6 is a very good choice its a good solid motor with alot of pretential. but if u can afford 1 the e8 mr is the 1 to go for it can take alot of hp if thats what your after.

as with all hight performance cars as with evo's look after them and u will always have a smile on your face keep them serviced and they won't give u any nasty surprises

Hi mate and thanks for the welcome.

I would love an evo 8 but at the same time i sort of drew the line at 8k and would probably see a ropey 8 for that. You never know, i'll probably end up increasing the budget:rolleyes:
I know if i went with the cash looking at a tidy 6, i'd buy it straight away but like you say, it might be worth holding out for a evo 8.

Cheers.

Hi Chris and welcome to the Forum buddy!!!

There are a couple of things to look out for, if you look through my post history, you will no doubt find a check list of things to look out for whilst test driving an Evo.

The VI is a great car, as is the V, there is a VII coming up for sale soon that Gary has but he is on the look out for another motor too so it is not quite ready to go as yet.

You never know, when you are ready to buy one, he may be ready to sell around then too!!!

Hi mate and welcome.I would go for an e6,7,or 8 to be honest, they all have great potential and the e6 tommi edition is the reason I like evos so much, think itl will come down to ur taste realy,if ur like me ul see what you want and budget will go out of the window

simply go for a 5 or 6.
you can get a mint one & mod it up nicely all well in 8k.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

I'll look out for that check list El, thanks for that.
I'll look out for that car of Gary's too, if i'm honest i'd prefer to buy one from a forum, you tend to find better looked after examples even if you do pay a little more.

Thanks for the input:)

I say that they are ALL great cars. Go for whatever you can afford aslong as the ride is nice and tight and the body work is good too. Keep a bit to the side so you can get some mods done when you buy one though.
