Hello,

I am 24 and always loved evo's especially the 5 and 6, and am in the position to look at buying one, and need some information regarding what cars are uk cars and what are cheap jap imports, and things to look out for and possibly some recommended retailers, looking to spend up to about 8K, so if anyone has any info i would loved to hear it.

Hey mate, welcome to the site..

Evo 6s were the first uk model, anything older will be a jap import (although there are lots of imported 6/7/8/9s as up until a few months ago it was cheaper to import one, than to buy over here). Better off buying private, as you will save some ££, but make sure you get the car fully checked before parting with your hard earned. Make sure all dash board lights come on when your turn the key, and make sure they all go off again after 3/5 seconds.

if your buying from a private party see if they mind you removing the intake to look for major shaft play, and take a close look at all the oil feed lines for damage.
