Hi guys just bought this on eBay item # 320938598640 and was wondering what you think !

Do you think there will be any other hidden problems I should be looking for when collecting it ? Is the alternator belt tensioner an expensive fix ?

New tensioners are around £160, personally and from experience, i would replace it with a new one as well as a new belt.

Thanks ! Any other things I should be looking for ? I got it fairly cheep or so I thought at £2600 what do you think ? What sort of Bhp would the engine be as standard ? I'v tried searching the engine code but struggling to find anything ?

Tbh looks like you just bought a steal, as long as the bits mentioned are sorted and the engine is ok it's a deal cat c or not, as an 8 engine would cost 2k on its own. Hard to say what power it will be running as we dnt know if it's mapped or what 8 it's from

If they've fitted the ecu from the evo 8 as well then chances are it is a evo 8 260 engine (ecu is a 4 plug the same as evo 4)

engine will be good for about 360-370bhp with a remap.

I would be more interested in what it's like underneath, at that price and that spec i would think there is an underlying problem somewhere.

Rust around the rear chassis legs , and everywhere else on an old evo.

Might be fine but most older ones have some tin worm.

Before you go thinking about tuning it if I was you I would be going over it and make sure the car is what it is ment to be as you may possibly have to spend some money on underlying problems. Once you know the car is sound then look at tuning it.

That's the same seller who also had an evo 4 with a 6 engine in as that car in your link was offered to me as the other 4 had sold also in the same location and how it was described was as that one in the add but the adds had different phone numbers and something did not feel right so I left it. Hopefully for your sake I was wrong and you have got yourself a bargain.

How will I know If it's not right please let me know as I haven't got a clue about evo's or ars in genral lol ! Had audi's last couple of years and still have a 1.8 turbo

Make sure all the lights come on when you put ignition on and go off as they should

AYC
MIL
ABS

Ect.

Also make sure it has the engine in the car its ment to. The rest of the checks are as you would do to any other car , check clutch ect. Also once warm don't be afraid to put your toe down and make sure it pulls and stops as it should and when cornering make sure you not getting any funny noises or twitching from the rear of the vehicle. Just go over the car well if he won't let you or moans that you want to then simply walk away mate.

Right guys some weird stuff is happening lol
In the listing there is a garage listed as to where the work was done , well I contacted them with pictures of the receipt which were sent to me by the seller as I haven't been and collected the car yet and they said its deffo there telephone number address and stamp but not one of there invoices ??? They said they also would not have touched a Japanese car as they are a BMW garage !!! I'v contacted the seller who seems very miffed by it and asked for the engine and chassis number ! Is there any way I can check these as to see if it's stolen or dodgy in any way ?? I can't understand why if someone competent enough to fit the engine did so and then faked an invoice to say it was done somewhere else ??

Very simple answer there mate WALK AWAY that's why its sooooo cheap and that's why i did not bother with it as just had a feeling something was not right. If they have forged garage receipts what else is not as it should be at end of the day its your money but i know what i would do
