hi everyone my name is alex,im in need of a bit of advise if possible, im looking to get an evo 6 0r 8, idealy i want 350-400bhp, but whether its better idea to buy one already with the work done,or to do have the work done myself. i used to own a little 160bhp starlet an was alot of fun for such a small car,now ive sold it and and bought a mk4 golf gti for my day to day car,but now need a toy aswell, so if anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated thanks oyeh i also need it to be able to beat my brothers gtr.

Welcome along buddy. Is say it depends on what funds you got. In some cases it would be cheaper to do it yourself but with the market on its arse atm you could probably get a good deal on one already done.

jus as youngy says, there are some bargains to be had out there and if there are invoices for work done by a decnt tuner i would say go for it. so why a 6 or 8 how about a 7

Would you be doing the work yourself? The are loads better in corners, with good tyres. LOL. Best thing to do, any you like the look of, post the link on here and I'm sure you will get some advice.

+1 on the link explains all the diffs.

compared to scoobs and this isnt me being biast, the evo wins hands down. you pay for what you get basically, i payed the same amount for an 8 on an 03 plate as my brother payed for a wrx ppp a year earlier on 06 plate and the difference between the two is justified.

tighter faster better looking higher spec.

Reaching 400bhp to try and beat a gtr is unlikely ... difference would come down to the driver

Many discussions on 'What do I need to beat ???' have been done here and over the road. But there's to many factors to give a straight formula

Budget wise I'd personally go for a 6 that has had engine work done already or go for a project style and by a 6 that is cheaper and get the work done all within your budget

realisticly i would prefer a garage to do the major work as i want it done properly to high standard, my brother thinks should do it myself bt its just time, but with baby in few weeks on way,i wont be abke to be in garage doing all work myself so i would say garage, is there any you would recomend?

hi rsv rob, your right it is down to driver,shouldnt be too much on an issue as he is a staight line man, proved that to him when i had my glanza an he owned his scoob. i think 6 would be the better option.

Price depends on what car you get as a base to work from as you know there are a few varients in each marque

Hi and welcome, get yourself a nice 6 and use the rest of your budget to modify Try get one that's already had work done and you can always add to it with the remaining £s you have left over
