Just a quick hello, i'm looking to get rid of my current car soon and just looking at my options ATM!

I've seen a few Evo 5 and 6's that i like the look of and are in my price range, maybe even a 7 but unsure on that ATM.

Just wanted to have a look around and read up about them until I decide to purchase one

Any advice and tips on what to look out for and what the common problems would be gratefully recieved!

if you choosing between a 5,6 or 7 i would go with a 6.

Hi Rob and welcome to our little Forum buddy.

I suggest that you trawl through my posts/replies (there are shed loads!!!) you will come across loads of useful information including a WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR WHEN ON A TEST DRIVE reply to a similar question that was posed earlier this year by a newbie.

I would personally go for a V as I think they are the business and look the best but the VI is the best value for money Evo to date. If you go for the TME then you will get back more or less what you spend on it when it comes to selling it on.

Is that a Supra I see there???

You will be amazed at the difference in power when you do get one.

I'd prefer a 6 especially a TME, a mate had a red one for a while and I really liked it!

I am finding insurance a bit of a pig though, I'm 23 and the cheapest quote I've found is 2400 ATM which is stupid!

That's 800 more than my supra!

The delivery of the power is far more efficient and the fact that it is a car that thieves love to get their mitts on, is it any wonder that it costs more to ensure even though the engine is 1000cc less then most Supra's???

You will find a better deal if you look around. Take your time buddy.

Sounds like I'll need to buy a decent alarm system for it after I've brought one!

The majority of them come with Thatcham approved devices so you may not have to spend on that at all.

I am sure you will get it down below 2k. You are not looking hard enough. Try and give a reg number when you are getting a quote, it helps with the final figure rather then a broader premium search which takes the biscuit.

I hope so, tbf I haven't really been looking around for quotes, i've only done a few, one with my current insurer ( Bell) and the others that were quite poor with quotes on a supra before I purchased that!

Adrian Flux has always giving me good quotes but i've just not had the time to call them about it.

I'm not entirely sure when i'll be purchasing an Evo yet as i've bought an engine for the Supra this month so I want to get that fitted before hand.

Does the club have any major meets during the year at all? It was Suprapod today but the weather stopped all the dragging!

I'll have a phone round during the week! Sky insurance would only insure me tpft on the supra so doubt they'll be any good!
