Welcome

Have you had a quote yet :whistling:

Also looking for some info, and as its a new forum .. not really too sure where to post, im looking to find out what would be best overall, i really like 4,5,6,7 but heard theres alot of engine problems with 4,5,6 dont know if this is true? or if its just jealous ppl on TGTT Also i got an insurance quote for a 7, and it was around 1500, for when im 21 with 4yncb, obviously just a rough price. do any of you guys reckon the 4,5or6 would be cheaper?

Thanks
Daryn

Hiya and welcome along :)

Engine wise some 4's suffer with crank warp, 5's are similar to the 6's although 6's are deemed to have the strongest engine.
But I wouldn't say any of them suffer engine problems as such, it depends how you treat them, if your gonna rag it and put cheap fluids or parts in it expect it to play up and cause you a whole load of agro and could quite well cost you a lot of money in the long run.
With each Evo they evolved each bettering the previous one in it's own right, they are fantastic machines, pure Japanese brilliance I'd say and wouldn't swap or sell my 6 for the world :)

Insurance wise it's hard to say as each insurance quote is done on it's own
merit, I could have exactly the same job as you driven the same cars and live in the opposite street and have a totally different quote, it's not generalised unfortunately

My advice is make sure you know the full history of the car or as much as possible about it before you buy it and know what to look for before handing over any cash. :)

Hi and welcome pal

Some good advice from foxy lady.

Take your time to find a good car, there really isn't a common problem with evos, ayc is something you need to make sure is working ok. Other than that make sure the car has been looked after, older cars are starting to suffer with rust underneath now so have a good poke around under there.

I would say to go for a 5, but then I would lol. Between the 5 and 6 I think it's more personal choice on looks, 6 engines are reported to be slightly stronger. Only other differences are front bumper, spoiler and colour of interior.

The 4's have a bad rep for crankwalk, if you decide you want a 4 then try to find one that's got a later engine.

thanks very much foxy lady + Dimbers. thats really helpful. I should be looking to be purchasing one september/october. after having the starlet, and having some fun with that, i cant wait to go 4wd. Your help is very much appreciated. i think i'll go for a 5or6 then. is it still servicing every 3000miles?

I do my Gt turbo, every 3000, i do oil+filter then every 6000 i do oil, filters, and sparkplugs. im guessing it be the same with Evo?

Thanks,
Daryn.
