hi all,new on this site and to evo's.
i bought an evo 4 last week because it was cheap.
i have to say i'm a bit disappointed as i was expecting it to be much quicker.is this because its a jap import?it seems to be very low geared and quickly reaches an indicated 180kph,(import remember).
is it worth modifying or should i get a uk spec model and start there?
any advice greatly appreciated
paul

well i would rather get quickly to 180kmph than slowly or not at all,, im not really sure what your problem is, are you saying it seems sluggish or slow or??? i have a IV and im vey happy with it, granted it doesnt seem as fast as what it did when i first got it, but i guess thats maybe me getting used to the power etc. but trust me it doesnt hang around when ya need to get somewhere in a hurry.. maybe you can inlight'n us to what you want from your evo or what you are not happy with about the car and maybe other members will give theyre thoughts too,,,,,,,,,,

Not a mechanic here, but a suspected MAF sensor being faulty might be the answer (Mass air flow).

It controls the enginges fuel/air ratio, and if it's out of sync, result is poor performance and more fuel consumption.

Take it to a specialist for a computer hook up diagnostic methinks.

Yer it may be worth getting it checked out. Even if its a 10 min drive just to see if they think its about right.

Unless youve come from something similar or faster id be surprised if you found it slow!

hey again,
i can see how it can be confusing now i read it back.
what i was trying to say was that it feels nothing like i thought it would.i was expecting real push you in the seat back acceleration and it revs out in top gear at little more than 100mph.i understand jap cars are restricted to 112.
this is why i think the gearing is so low.

Slow car lol

So i take it you have a fresh import, that hasnt had limiter etc off, take it to a garage get it looked at then you will see a difference, my 4 keeps going after 160..
